Defects have announced three special headline shows around the release of their debut album, Modern Error. They will be playing at The Old Blue Last, London on 28 May, Asylum 2 in Birmingham on 30 May, and Satans Hollow in Manchester on 31 May. You can get tickets from HERE.

Their profoundly personal debut album, Modern Error, will be released on 24 May via Mascot Records. They have already revealed the videos for  Broken Bloodlines,  Lockdown and Modern Error from the album. You can pre-order HERE.

Last month they finished an exhilarating European Tour with Orbit Culture, which followed tearing through Europe at the end of 2023 with Of Mice & Men. The band delivered crushing sets at a breakneck speed. Their headline shows give fans the chance to see the band in their full, blistering glory.

“We can’t wait to play these headline shows supporting our Album release,” says guitarist Luke Genders. “Our last headline outing was a great time, and we aim to top that this time. We’re hot off the tails of 2 UK and EU tours with Of Mice and Men and Orbit Culture, and with those shows being sold out prior to our announcement, this is the perfect time for our fans to see us. It will be our longest set to date with a couple of surprises and exclusive merchandise only available at these shows.”

Singer Tony Maue says, “We’re really excited to give you even more from Modern Error. It dives into every category, and anyone can take something from it. We can’t wait to play it live with the fans, feel emotions together, and create some amazing memories. These shows will be jam-packed with relentless energy from start to finish, so don’t miss out.”

Modern Error equally crushes and paints a poignant message about the path the world is heading down. Lockdown captures mental challenges, and the Arena bulldozing Broken Bloodlines focuses on leaving behind negative forces in your life.

Modern Error is breathtakingly raw with emotion. Conceptually, it is a deeply cathartic album that acts as a vessel for singer Tony Maue to organise his thoughts on the trauma of being taken into care at a young age. Threaded through the album are Maue’s experiences, how the five members of the band are all connected, and why, at this moment, right now, is the right time for this band to exist. For themselves as much as anyone else.

All five members have their stories – Tony Maue (Vocals), Luke Genders (Guitar), James Threadwell (Guitar), David Silver (Bass) and Harry Jennings (Drums) – and the album hits with the heaviness and aggression of Lamb Of God and Machine Head, a Linkin Park-like sense of melody, and a touch of Bring Me The Horizon’s fearlessness. For all its heavy subject matter, it burns with vitality, power, passion and woven within is their outlook on the world.

They are riding a triumphant wave, following their European tours with Orbit Culture and Of Mice & Men, and as they roll into their headline shows, it gives fans a chance to see them before the summer festivals hit and their appearance at this year’s Download festival. They’ve added these to their already impressive live cannon, which includes shows with Bullet for My Valentine, Funeral for a Friend and In Flames, as well as performing at festivals such as Bloodstock, 2000Trees and The Great Escape. They are continuing to steamroll through the year with festival slots at Download (UK), Graspop (BE), Rockharz (DE) and Rock The Lakes (CH).

“We’ve always been told to strive for perfection, but I don’t think anyone can be perfect,” Maue considers. “We are all defects in a way, but that makes us all unique.”
