Today, California band Decent Criminal have shared their new single and video “Vertigo.” The song perfectly exemplifies the band’s hopeful yet melancholic take on the rock genre, building off punk, alternative rock, surf rock, grunge, and power pop. Guitars and crisp vocals carry the melody of the reflective tune that could easily soundtrack a laid back roadtrip, and the self-produced and edited video follows the course. You can watch the video for “Vertigo” HERE and find the track on streaming services.

On the song, vocalist Tristan Martinez shares:

“Vertigo is the last song we finished before leaving San Diego, where we wrote the majority of our last record. It’s about being at the mercy of my emotions one day; a recurring thought to drive to Mexico for a day and get bombed, the beauty in things bigger than ourselves, and the frustration over exerting socially when you don’t feel connections.”

Decent Criminal was started by brothers Hunter and Tristan Martinez, going full force as a band in 2014. The band has released three albums, with the latest being 2023’s There’s More To It Than Climbing. Built on a do-it-yourself ethic, Decent Criminal has established fan bases across North America and Europe, and have performed at festivals such as The Fest, Pouzza, and Punk Rock Bowling.

Decent Criminal is Tristan Martinez (vocals, guitar), Hunter Martinez (drums), Jesse Hernandez (bass, backing vocals) Jason Paul (guitar, keys), and Paige Beller (guitar, backing vocals).
