Their debut release, the formidable …To Regain Lost Glory EP was unleashed by Slaytanic Records in 2018, a war torn collection of songs that brought the band to the attention of respected webzines like VM-Underground and saw them perform internationally in Sri Lanka in 2019, Dubai in 2024 and locally at Death over Decaan – an event organized by DethFest which has hosted international acts like Fountainhead and top Indian extreme metal acts like Gutslit and Kill The King. A single, ‘Shell-Shocked’, followed in 2024 and now the band a ready to release a new two-track single, that highlights their ever increasing power and sonic intensity – ‘The Diseased’! After opening in a barrage of huge chords like rumbling heavy artillery ‘The Diseased’ delivers a furious attack, like a virulent poison burning through your veins. Vicious riffs are delivered with sniper-like precision over wild vocals that howl on the cusp of madness, while an overwhelming drum battery, a force of nature, decimates and devastates all in its path. The blend of raw, rampaging chaos and accomplished musicianship proves an explosive mixture and gives Warmarshal the character and unique identity to escape the long shadows of their influences and inspirations. Lyrically, ‘The Diseased’ is an excoriating assault on the hypocrisy of organised religion and the weaponizing of people’s faith and fears. Warmarshal take a stand against the rising tide of extremism and open fire on the manipulators and despots who engender division and inflame hatred for their own personal gain.
‘The Diseased’ is backed by an instrumental version of the same song and despite the strength of the lyrical message it really works – providing a rewarding listen. Full of different parts and shifting tempos, along with a melodic and superbly constructed solo, ‘The Diseased’ hits hard even without the primal violence of the vocal parts. Multifaceted and ferociously intense this song, in both its incarnations, shows all too clearly the monstrous force and venom that Warmarshal now possess. Mixed and mastered by renowned German guitarist Tom ‘Fountainhead’ Geldschläger, who has performed with the likes of Belphegor, Defeated Sanity and Obscura, ‘The Diseased’ sounds absolutely incendiary. Accompanied by a superb video the single will be released on October 2nd and with a support slot with Demonic Resurrection to follow, the name of Warmarshal will spread through the metal underground like wildfire.
