DAUFØDT – Norwegian Hardcore/Punk Unit Release New Single “Toxic” from Upcoming Album Glitter

Norwegian noise rockers Daufødt are set to release their highly anticipated third studio album, Glitter, on September 20th via Fysisk Format. This album isn’t about glitz and glam—it’s about the kind of glitter that sticks, leaving a lasting impact.

Ahead of the album’s release, Daufødt is dropping their new single “Toxic,” a track that perfectly captures the unpredictable essence of noise rock. As described by Everything Is Noise“‘Toxic’ starts as a mellow rock song with a driving beat and infectious bass line, but by the end, it shifts violently into a d-beat hardcore frenzy, making for a dramatic and attention-grabbing conclusion.”

Listen to “Toxic” here.

Vocalist Annika Linn Verdal Homme explains, “‘Toxic’ is about being around narcissistic people who think they can get away with anything. Unlike Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic,’ Daufødt doesn’t romanticize these behaviors—it’s about the bitter reality they create.”

The album’s leading single “Jeg Vil Bare Hjem”, which the band describes as “a straightforward fucking rock song” is now playing at this location.

Glitter is Daufødt’s raw and unfiltered reflection on 2024—a desperate cry about the end of times, juxtaposed with the absurdity of watching videos of cute dogs. As the band puts it, “Glitter is the sound of being hit by a brick, but in a way that makes you look forward to the next blow.”

The album spans a wide range of sounds, from radio-friendly rock hits to minute-long punk songs and nine-minute noise rock jams, showcasing a band in constant evolution. Following their experimental collaboration on Aromaterapi with Lasse Marhaug, Glitter offers a punchier, more direct sound while retaining their signature mix of catchy rock and extreme noise. As the band says, “Our biggest fear is making the same album again, and Glitter definitely meets our goal: recognizable, but unpredictable.”

Daufødt, featuring vocalist Annika Linn Verdal Homme, bassist Eskild Myrvoll, guitarist Eirik Albrethsen Reithaug, and drummer Mads Antonsen Gerzić, has already made waves in the music scene. Their debut album 1000 Island won the Spellemann Award in 2021, followed by their acclaimed second album Aromaterapi in 2022, and extensive touring across Scandinavia with performances at major festivals like Roskilde and Øyafestivalen.
