DARKO share new single ‘Override!’

Surrey progressive punks DARKO have shared their brand new single ‘Override!‘ alongside a wonderfully animated video. The track is the second to be taken from their upcoming new EP Canvas, set for release on 18th July via Lockjaw Records. Pre-save the EP here.

The EP serves as the final piece of the conceptual puzzle that ties all of the band’s recent releases together, relating to their Greyscale and Sparkle EP’s both lyrically and thematically. Its first single, the EP’s title track, was a love letter to the grassroots music scene. ‘Override!’ is a raucous socially conscious anthem, serving as a very loud and clear statement about the band’s support of the LGBTQI+ community. Speaking on the new single, West shares:
“Growing up with rampant, normalised homophobia left Millennials with past behaviours to unpack and internalisations to unlearn. I remember thinking I was counter-culture and anti-authoritarian, yet still ‘ironically’ using homophobic slurs way past the point where I should have known better. It wasn’t OK back then, and it definitely isn’t OK now. Anyone within the punk rock scene who is not unequivocally supportive of the LGBTQI+ community needs to either sort their act out, or f**k off.”

DARKO‘s Chapters trilogy – Sparkle, Greyscale, and Canvas – blasts open a bold new era of progressive punk, loaded with fire, fury, and zero tolerance for fence-sitting. Ditching the tired call to “leave politics at the door,” Chapters rips through the rot of misogyny in punk, homophobia, and late capitalism’s billionaire death cult with snarling conviction. It’s DARKO‘s most explosive and anthemic work yet – an electrifying fusion of post-rock atmospherics, death metal ferocity, and their signature brand of groove-heavy, high-speed melodic hardcore that hits like a Molotov cocktail of purpose and righteous rage.
