“Shane has definitely progressed into new mirrors of his version and take on anything electronic, from Big Beat to Darkwave, from Synthpop to Gabba. And the most amazing thing is — every song, every part, every note makes sense. An amazing Electronica album for the final weeks of the year.” — Veil of Sound |
“V.I.T.R.I.O.L’ brings together a selection from the 10 albums that Embury has released under the Dark Sky Burial moniker over the past four years and it’s a collection with no weak links.” — Ghost Cult Magazine (9/10) |
“Each track is a journey, shifting between haunting melodies and abrasive textures and this unflinching commitment to exploring the unknown is what sets V.I.T.R.I.O.L.” |

‘Life for anyone can be a struggle at times’ explains Shane Embury, Napalm Death’s longest serving member and musician talking about his experimental electronic project and labour of love. |
An honored veteran of heavy music Shane with his bands Napalm Death, Brujeria, Tronos among others feature Embury’s notable grinding bass signature which became synonymous with the term “Grindcore”. Dark Sky Burial is more than just another project. A different, multi-layered one shaped through personal tragedies and a quest for truth. Embury believes DSB ignited in him meaning and urge to discover just who he truly is. |

Born in the early days of the pandemic, Dark Sky Burial serves as an essential musical outlet for the creative artist who was struggling with himself and his perception of the world around him. Dark Sky Burial is happy to present the project’s first compilation release – ‘V.I.T.R.I.O.L.’. Dark Sky Burial has now become a major focus for Shane who decided to take the project live and away from solely being a studio effort. With the intention to open spontaneous sonic possibilities. While ‘V.I.T.R.I.O.L.’ stands as a strong testament and introduction to followers old and new of what Embury has done with Dark Sky Burial so far, and a hint at what’s coming. |
The compilation leads you through a labyrinth, where every twist and turn are reflected on a diverse musical level. And changes of the sonic landscape, the structural and compositional additions exemplify the rich discography of the project. |
Uniting both Maze Quadrology and other releases of Dark Sky Burial, this compilation manifests Shane Embury’s ongoing desire to push the borders of sound and genres. |
Commenting on the signing to Consouling Sounds, Shane explains: “I am very excited to be joining Consouling Sounds. The Dark Sky Burial following have been feverishly asking for vinyl releases for some time now, and this is something I have really wanted to do.” |
