May 9, 2025 – Somewhere in the middle of a river in Canada, a new experimental electronic band is quietly redefining a genre of electronic music that no one asked to be redefined. They call it Rural Canadian Techno… Harnessing the powerhouse talents of Jimmy Shaw (Metric, Broken Social Scene), Liam O’Neil (Kings of Leon), Dave Hodge (Broken Social Scene, Leisure Cruise), and conceptual artist Jon Morris (Windmill Factory, NOWHERE.io), supergroup CVCHE have released their new single “Bitcoin Takes A Hit.” PRESS HERE to listen to the single, a sonic swing trade through the blood-red chaos of crypto crash season which marks the fourth track from CVCHE’s forthcoming debut album Get Fluffy, out later this year. “Born during a brutal Bitcoin faceplant, this track charts the emotional candlestick of a true dump ‘n’ pump—starting in the red, ending in the green,” shares CVCHE. “Whether you’re diamond-handing through the dip or rage-selling your bags for ramen, this one’s for the degenerates, the chart-watchers, and the meme lords. Throw it on during your next leverage play and let the sock dancing commence.” In an effort to make releasing music as fun as creating it, CVCHE (pronounced “Ceviche”) have also launched their very own memecoin $FLUFFY and have unveiled a new, playable level in their custom-designed videogame to coincide with the release of the new single. Token holders will get VIP perks including early access to merch, tickets, and exclusive events. “Not financial advice, but seriously, go get $FLUFFY,” add CVCHE. “You’ll probably regret it.” PRESS HERE to play the game where you guide CVCHE’s pixelated fish mascot and spiritual leader Fluffy through landscapes synced with the band’s music on a mission to save his reef. “We believe we’re the first band to do this,” continue CVCHE on the videogame, which can be paused to skip between levels and tracks. “But we also believed in crypto, so… you be the judge.” Making a name for themselves with their own brand of techno (a term used loosely and with love in the same way people say “salad” when referring to Jell-O with marshmallows in it), “Bitcoin Takes A Hit” follows the recent release of CVCHE’s singles “Welcome To CVCHE,” “Eyes of Darkness,” and “Get Fluffy” which were created using a large collection of analog, vintage synthesizers from the band’s tiny sovereign nation in Canada where the only club in town is your own waxed floor. First coming together in 2022 to remix Metric’s “All Come Crashing,” CVCHE began organically at Jimmy Shaw’s hideaway on a river in the Canadian countryside, a place which quickly became known for creative hangs, good food, great music, and its enviable “sock jams.” Inspired to make their own brand of techno during a “sock jam” session – sliding around in big socks on a slippery wood floor to the downbeat techno of The Field, Jon Hopkins, and Boards of Canada, CVCHE began work on their upcoming debut album Get Fluffy. Recording the collection over the course of a year while moonlighting in some of the biggest rock bands in the world, CVCHE are now unveiling the project piece by piece and – with possibly the best merch in the indie electronic scene – deeply encourage you to grab your headphones, break out your fluffiest socks, and press play wherever you stream your bangers as nightclubs are overrated and drinks at home don’t cost $18.
