This single acts as the third release from Current Swell’s forthcoming EP and is a perfect summer anthem for kicking back with your closest friends. It’s a feel good celebration of those lifelong bonds that never fade; no matter how much time has passed, it’s always like no time at all.

With laidback grooves, singalong choruses, and a nostalgic warmth, ‘Besties’ captures the magic of getting the crew back together. Lines like “Drive across the country to link up with my bestie” and “We tend to laugh forever. Someone ask us what’s so funny? So messed up we don’t remember” remind us that sometimes the best times are the messy ones, and that’s just how it’s always been.

Produced by the acclaimed Gus van Go at Boiler Room Studios, the track is yet another signature blend of infectious melodies and heartfelt storytelling that defines Current Swell’s music. Whether you’re road-tripping, sitting around a campfire, or raising a glass with your ride-or-dies, ‘Besties’ is the soundtrack to summer memories in the making.

Whilst writing their forthcoming EP, Current Swell have taken a more relaxed approach, allowing their personal lives to shape their creative process. With several members now raising young families, they’ve embraced a casual but deeply inspired writing process. “We’ve spent the past few years getting together for a week at a time, casually letting ideas flow,” says Stanton. “We demo a bunch of stuff, explore our own production tastes, and really just have fun with it. That freedom has made its way into these new songs, and we’re really excited for our fans to hear what we’ve been working on.”

After winning the Peak Performance Project in 2011, fans all across the world started to take notice of the Vancouver Island-based band and their West Coast rock sound. The band’s success has been based on their ability to talk in profound and uplifting ways, whether about unconditional love, the cycle of life and death, or fame and success. Their releases have led them to sold-out tours in North America, Brazil, and Europe, with thousands of tickets sold across four continents and well over 60 million streams worldwide.

Current Swell have spent their time building up energy, buoyed by the return of founding member Louis Sadava on bass and the fact that they’re making music that they like. It’s easy to hear it in the tracks.  Renewed and energised, the band’s sound remains as infectious as ever, impossible to listen to without tapping your feet or smiling. As they head into the next chapter of their career, the band carries with them a hard-earned confidence and a well-worn grin
