“Somebody New” encapsulates the struggle of striving to make a new relationship work only to end up feeling as though it still pales in comparison to a past love. The accompanying video opens on Moreno performing in a studio against a sunny backdrop of palm trees in golden hour, the warm light of the projector bouncing off of him as he sings. It then cuts to footage of the Nashville singer-songwriter gazing lovingly at his girlfriend. Soon enough, we see Moreno has actually been picturing his ex standing in her place.

The song’s lyrics perfectly portray the heartsick, desperate emotions that come with trying (and failing) to get over a past relationship in an effort to move on to a new one. This pain is reflected in Chris’s incredible voice, which remains thick with genuine emotion and passion as the video cuts between scenes from his current and previous relationships. Viewers can sense the tension and distance between Chris and his new partner as the moving track plays behind them. This video addresses the feelings that may linger in the wake of a breakup with an honesty that takes true vulnerability to put forth.

He performs both solo and with his band, having performed more than 500 shows in 20 different states. He was nominated for Best Country Artist two years in a row at the New England & Boston Music Awards, earning nominations for Best Songwriter and Best Song (“Before You”) as well. His 2020 single “Used To This” has received high praise from press outlets all over the world.

Moreno’s honest sound and sincere delivery connects with fans on a personal level. At its core, the country-pop songster’s music is a genuine reflection of his real life experiences and down-to-earth personality. As one reviewer put it, his songs “draw in the listener as if a deep secret or universal truth is about to be revealed.” Moreno’s music mixes elements of a modern country sound with his 90s and 2000s alternative rock influences. The result is a unique sound that feels both fresh and familiar at the same time. Chris continues to tour and put out a steady stream of music, collaborating with Nashville power players such as Jonathan Roye (Kelsea Ballerini) and Justin Wantz.
