The EP quickly garnered attention with Black Dahlia Murder vocalist Trevor Strnad, who wrote in his Obituarist column, “‘Black Blood Butchery’ is a veritable festival of blazing technicality and musical prowess. This is thinking man’s brutal death metal in every way.” The group then caught the attention of Unique Leader Records in 2018, and they began working on their debut full-length: Betrayal (2020). A jaw-dropping, vicious, and honest work, Betrayal took Cordyceps to new heights, with media hailing the album as “oppressively heavy in all of the right ways” (Dead Rhetoric). With their upcoming sophomore record, Hell Inside, Cordyceps is poised to stay on this trajectory, delivering 9 tracks of uncompromising brutal blackened death metal, honed to perfection over the last two years.
