Released on 27 February 2026 on CD and Digital, Colder Suns’ second album ‘Yesterday Is All I Want’ marks the first salvo of a four-part concept album series, aiming to explore our perception of time and how it shapes who we are. The album was recorded at Francis Rossi’s ARSIS Studios and produced with acclaimed Quo producer and engineer Andy Brook. On 20 February 2026, there will be an album launch gig at The Cart & Horses pub, famous for being the birthplace of Iron Maiden, where Colder Suns will be headlining. The band have made the video for ‘Shaking Trees’ available today, the single is released tomorrow. This is a band that channels tradition into a very modern sound, Colder Suns are unabashed purists, going for analogue and tube gear wherever possible. The line-up features father and son, Paul and Charlie Hayes, on guitar and bass respectively. Both Paul and vocalist / guitarist Ben Martin play classic/retro guitars – Paul has an original 1990’s Ibanez Jem, and Ben treasures many 1970s and 80s guitars. ‘Redd’ Reddington, who has also played with Mel Gaynor [Simple Minds] in his band, completes the line-up on drums. ‘Yesterday Is All I Want’ digs into the tension between choice and destiny, and how much free will we really have over the paths our lives take. The 9 original songs look at the struggle to truly live in the present, and keep one eye on the future, when too often we rely on the past as an anchor. Colder Suns say, “Everything we do is with passion, we write and play music because we all truly can’t live without it. To know that someone has listened and connected to our music on an emotional level is the most rewarding thing; that and playing in front of a huge crowd and enjoying the rush of truly entertaining. We don’t write songs on a transactional basis, each song has a purpose and very specific subject” Melody and harmony are at the centre of everything they do but with a focus on energy and vocal hooks or ear worms. The group are known for high-energy performances, anthem-worthy songwriting, and a sound that resonates across the rock spectrum. The band have played numerous live shows, building their reputation on stage with a powerful and engaging presence. Notable performances include headlining Camden Assembly, The Fiddler’s Elbow, and The O₂ Islington. On ‘Yesterday Is All I Want’, Colder Suns look at the past’s impact on the present. By drawing on decades of musical experience, family ties, some vintage equipment, and their own influences, they have created something vital and contemporary. ‘Yesterday Is All I Want’ is all about how we live in here and now, and how we got here: it’s an album about today… |
