New York, NY – 21st January 2025 – Cloud Cult have just released a lyric video for “Vision in a Field” from their latest full-length studio album Alchemy Creek. The clip beautifully complements the song’s ethereal and introspective nature, blending serene imagery with heartfelt words. Set against a backdrop of shifting landscapes and the character’s journey, the video creates a dreamlike atmosphere, mirroring the song’s themes of connection, transformation, and the search for meaning. Each frame feels like a visual manifestation of the song’s emotional depth, inviting viewers to reflect alongside the music. The subtle, organic animation adds to the sense of wonder and contemplation, making it a perfect match for the reflective energy of the track.
The video comes ahead of the band’s January Alchemy Creek Tour which includes a Mountain Stage performance on January 26th alongside Tophouse and Dar Williams as well as a show in Cullowhee, NC where Cloud Cult will perform Light Chasers, their 10th studio album, in it’s entirety alongside the School of Stage and Screen at Western Carolina University. The album’s story will be “told through dance, movement, lights, music, and imagery”. The January dates are continuation of last fall’s Alchemy Creek Tour which included sold-out performances in New York City, Minneapolis, and beyond.
The Midwest indie-chamber rock band released their latest full-length studio album Alchemy Creek in August of last year with standout singles “The Universe Woke Up As You” and “As Beautiful As It Hurts.” The LP continued Cloud Cult’s use of music as a way to heal and it explores themes of transformation and the interconnectedness of life, all while maintaining the band’s signature lush soundscapes and introspective lyrics. Alchemy Creek is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Over the past two and a half years, Minowa has been releasing a steady stream of songs and videos to the band’s Patreon base. Alchemy Creek is a culmination of work from that time and while Minowa was largely isolated throughout the process, he invited his bandmates Shannon Frid-Rubin (violin), Daniel Zamzow (cello), Sarah Perbix (French horn), Shawn Neary (trombone), and Jeremy Harvey (drums) out this past spring for recording sessions. The album was mastered at Rare Form Mastering by Greg Reierson, who has mastered eight of Cloud Cult’s records.
Originally formed in Minnesota by Cloud Cult’s frontman Craig Minowa who started the band as a solo project, Cloud Cult has evolved into a seven person band that boasts a rich 11-album history. Since their inception, they have remained completely independent, releasing music via their own environmentally-conscious record label Earthology Records. The common thread through what they do as a creative collective is to explore the medicinal powers of music and art in life’s journey through pain, love, and catharsis.
