CHUBBY AND THE GANG – Share contemplative ballad “Cocaine Sunday”

CHUBBY AND THE GANG

Share contemplative ballad Cocaine Sunday”

Taken from brilliant new album
And Then There Was… out 4th October 2024 on Flatspot Records

UK and EU tour through November and December 2024

Chubby and The Gang slow things down on the contemplative ballad “Cocaine Sunday,” out today. The track shares a more profound look into Chubby’s, aka Charlie Manning, world while still leaning into the raspy vocals and punk sensibilities that shape the upcoming record, And Then There Was…. Sullen piano takes centre stage, only broken apart by a wistful harmonica solo. The emotive video for the track, directed by Nick Suchak, finds Manning confronting his vices and can be watched HERE or by clicking the image below.

Speaking on the new song Manning said “Nothing makes me feel regret like waking up on a Sunday knowing the last few days have gone out the window for nothing. This song is about the lament I feel not only in the short term, but also the long term. Love I lost. Friends I’ve lost. Regret. But the only way to make myself feel better is to carry on. Live a life I was meant to. Just letting each Sunday pass me by.”

And Then There Was… marks Chubby and the Gang’s third full-length, following The Mutt’s Nuts (2021) and Speed Kills (2020). t’s a mix of control and chaos, love and loneliness, rage and vulnerability that blends hardcore punk with the most infectious elements of ‘70s rock n roll and doo-wop. Throughout the record, Manning exposes his prowess for melody and exposition of true self. The songs scream to be heard in a live setting, but feel just as at home playing over the speakers of a dimly lit local pub. With the release of And Then There Was… Chubby and The Gang is primed to continue to be an enthralling voice of authenticity in the world of punk and beyond. For him though, the only goal is to “Play good shows. Have good times.”
