Today, Chubby and the Gang announces its new album And Then There Was… set for release October 4th through new label home Flatspot Records. The record is 16 songs written and performed by Charlie Manning, produced by Jonah Falco, and recorded and mixed by James Atckinson. It’s a mix of control and chaos, love and loneliness, rage and vulnerability that blends hardcore punk with the most infectious elements of ‘70s rock n roll and doo-wop. Single “To Be Young,” out now, is a two minute romp about the unpredictability of the future. Lively guitars and drums encase Manning’s throaty vocals, complimented by a beaming guest feature from singer Kate Clover. The mind-bending video for the song was directed by Nick Suchak, produced by Dan Matthews, and can be watched HERE.

On the lyrics, Manning shares:

“When you 17 you have no idea about life, you just exist. This song is romanticising that uncertainty. You make so many mistakes and you have no idea that your doing them.”

And Then There Was… marks Chubby and the Gang’s third full-length, following The Mutt’s Nuts (2021) and Speed Kills (2020). Throughout the record, Manning exposes his prowess for melody and exposition of true self. The songs scream to be heard in a live setting, but feel just as at home playing over the speakers of a dimly lit local pub. With the release of And Then There Was… Chubby and The Gang is primed to continue to be an enthralling voice of authenticity in the world of punk and beyond. For him though, the only goal is to “Play good shows. Have good times.”

And Then There Was… is available for preorder now through Flatspot Records.
