On 4th October , Chubby and the Gang will release its new album And Then There Was… through Flatspot Records. The record is 16 songs written and performed by Charlie Manning, produced by Jonah Falco, and recorded and mixed by James Atckinson. Having already shared the reflective “The Bonnie Banks” and lively “To Be Young,” today Chubby releases third single “There’s A Devil In The Jukebox.” The song starts with twangy guitar before moving into absolute punk rock blitz. There’s a definitive Oi! influence In Manning’s delivery, channeling bands like The New York Hounds, as he calls out “There’s a devil in the jukebox baby, will you listen to what he says?”. On the track, Manning shares: “This song is about getting into subculture and finding yourself down some alley in London trying to listen to punk, and not get stabbed.” And Then There Was… marks Chubby and the Gang’s third full-length, following The Mutt’s Nuts (2021) and Speed Kills (2020). t’s a mix of control and chaos, love and loneliness, rage and vulnerability that blends hardcore punk with the most infectious elements of ‘70s rock n roll and doo-wop. Throughout the record, Manning exposes his prowess for melody and exposition of true self. The songs scream to be heard in a live setting, but feel just as at home playing over the speakers of a dimly lit local pub. With the release of And Then There Was… Chubby and The Gang is primed to continue to be an enthralling voice of authenticity in the world of punk and beyond.
