TUNE IN HERE TOURING UK & IRELAND NEXT WEEK
Tickets available here Ahead of his return to the UK & Ireland next week, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett has today released the new EP Starry Nights & Campfire Lights. The EP features a country version of the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Cowboy Song’ as well as an Americana rendition of Hanoi Rocks’ glam rock anthem ‘Don’t You Ever Leave Me’, and previously unreleased live and acoustic versions of tracks from Lost At Sea, the highly acclaimed album released last year. Also premiering today at 9pm UK will be ‘Live From Apogee Studio’, an intimate show originally recorded in September last year. Tune in HERE. The EP arrives just ahead of Shiflett’s headline tour across the UK and Ireland, which concludes with a show at London’s Electric Ballroom on the 27th. Tickets are available here. Across the tour, Shifflett will be joined by ‘Wild’ Willy Cobb whose credentials are strong being the cousin of Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and musician Brent Cobb, and in London, the trailblazing Kezia Gill, who won three British Country Music Association awards. Revered as a modern-day guitar hero, the new album sees Shiflett splice up alt-country rock and guitar-driven grit with sharp songwriting and Americana undertones. Shiflett also last year launched a new video series called ‘Shred with Shifty’ where he interviews some of the guitar greats, delving into their most iconic solos and the art of playing guitar. Guests so far have included the likes of Nile Rogers, Alex Lifeson (Rush),
Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Brad Paisley, Ace Frehley (KISS) and more. Head to Volume.com/shifty for more info. Although he’s used to playing big arenas globally, the punk veteran and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s previous UK tour was hugely triumphant; his transition to more intimate venues was seamless, resulting in equal magic, showing that being a great frontman is just another part of his already impressive CV. “…he’s gone up a level with this mix of pop rock, country and punk.”
Daily Star“…it grabs you by the heartstrings and leaves you wanting more. Best of all it sounds like he really loves doing this. Hard to fake, and hard to resist.”
Louder “Not only is Lost at Sea filled with masterful guitar work, but the songcraft itself is very impressive. Shiflett’s just as effective sharing narratives and noticings, and combined with the album’s musical breadth, Lost at Sea pleasantly surprises at each turn.”
No Depression “…quite excellent …energetic indie Americana”
Powerplay “‘Lost At Sea,’ is a wildly absorbing, energetic rocking country album giving us a kaleidoscope of music; on every listen you’ll hear something new, whether it’s a well-placed harmony, a get-lost-into guitar riff or drift-away keys.”
