Texas-born singer, songwriter, and producer Chance Peña has released his new track Wolves of Worry” today via Columbia Records, offering another glimpse into his forthcoming full-length album When I Change My Mind I Don’t Mean It, due out August 29.

A prime showcase for Chance’s poetic and potent lyricism, “Wolves of Worry” unfolds as a fable-like yet palpably raw portrait of anxiety. The gorgeously haunting track inhabits a stark simplicity before morphing into a glorious outburst in its final moment, inciting a sublime catharsis with its howling vocals and frenetic guitar work.

“I came up with the riff for ‘Wolves of Worry’ on tour and tried writing to it but never got anywhere,” Chance shares. “But while we were at the cabin I pulled up a voice note, and the song just poured out. It felt like another reminder that you need to let the songs show you what they want to be, rather than trying to force the whole process.”

The new song follows Chance’s recent releases “Tongue Tied” and “Collapse”—tracks that have continued to cement his reputation for blending folk-rooted storytelling with cinematic soundscapes and raw vulnerability. With When I Change My Mind I Don’t Mean It, Chance delivers his most assured and visionary work to date with enchantingly detailed storytelling—ultimately lending a dreamlike quality to his lived-in reflections on loss and longing and profound transformation.

Later this year, Chance will join The Lumineers on The Automatic World Tour for 20 shows across North America. He’ll then travel Europe to support on Tom Odell’s A Wonderful Life Tour for 14 dates before playing 3 headline shows in Australia in December. For a list of dates, please visit chancepena.com.
