Marking 10 years since their last release, Camden heroes TRIBES return with stadium-ready anthem ‘Hard Pill’, via Downtown Music.
Oozing with charm, ‘Hard Pill’ – which premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 6Music show — pairs the frantic grit of jangly desert-style guitar with huge drums to create a statement return for the old fan and new. The new single displays a TRIBES with a brand new lease of life, still with that signature, bright TRIBES allure.
On the new single, singer Johnny Lloyd said: “The song landed without warning or invitation the day after we met back up and kickstarted a whole new era of the band. The song is about broken relationships, healing and coming back together.”
The release comes straight off the back of a monumental sold-out homecoming show at Dublin Castle, London last night. TRIBES are set for many more gigs this year, with a headline slot lined up at The Key Club, Leeds on 18th April, and a recently announced support slot with DMAs at London’s Wembley Arena, Glasgow’s O2 Academy and Manchester’s O2 Apollo – PURCHASE TICKETS HERE.
Comprised of singer/guitarist Johnny Lloyd , guitarist Dan White , bassist Jimmy Cratchley (the three formerly of Operahouse), and drummer Miguel Demelo, the London quartet made a name for themselves as one of the most exciting bands coming out of the scene, where in 2011 the title track from their first EP ‘We Were Children’ was crowned Zane Lowe’s ‘Hottest Track in the World’ on BBC Radio 1, and was also well received from industry critics in NME, Clash and Artrocker. Following support slots for the likes of Mystery Jets, The Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Pixies and The Rolling Stones, TRIBES released their debut album, ‘Baby’. The album followed extensive touring and TRIBES responded with their second album ‘Wish To Scream’.
Since their sophomore album release in 2013’s hard-hitting ‘Wish To Scream’, TRIBES have been flying low, working on their own esteemed solo careers and projects. Following a choice encounter between two of the members in a cosy Dorset pub in 2020, reflections of the good ol’ days came into conversation and the idea of coming back with a new lease of life, was too irresistible to miss.
