Phoenix-based metal powerhouse Buried resurfaces with a colossal new single, a thunderous cover of Acid Bath’s iconic track “The Blue.” Following the critical success of their debut EP Infect and Replicate, released this past March, Buried now pay tribute to one of their greatest influences with a cover that captures the spirit of the original while pushing its intensity into new, modern territory. The band explains: “Acid Bath is one of our biggest influences, so they were an obvious choice when we started throwing around ideas for a cover. Picking a song was difficult — Kite Strings and Pagan are solid all the way through — but The Blue was the first Acid Bath song I ever heard, and it’s always been one of my favorites. It embodies the sludge genre perfectly: slow doom, bluesy metal, and raw emotion. This is our homage to Acid Bath — our way of paying respect to one of the greats.” Listen to Buried’s cover of “The Blue” now! Formed by longtime collaborators Preston Wilson (bass) and Alex Valdés (guitar), Buried was born from a shared desire to fuse a wide range of influences into something dark, dynamic, and unmistakably heavy. The lineup quickly expanded with the addition of powerhouse drummer Erik Scott and commanding vocalist Ben Rosputni, whose history with Preston added a potent layer of chemistry and depth to the band’s identity.
Following the EP release, Erik Scott stepped away from the band and was succeeded by drummer Joe Symons, bringing fresh fire and precision to Buried’s evolving sound.
Drawing from the doom-laden weight of Black Sabbath, the aggressive ferocity of Burn the Priest, and the grit of sludge and death metal, Buried deliver a style that feels both rooted in tradition and fiercely forward-looking. Their take on “The Blue” is a testament to this balance, reverent, yet unmistakably their own. |
