Vile Desolation are a three-piece band from East Java, Indonesia comprised of musicians with a wealth of experience in the nation’s vibrant and venomous brutal death metal scene. Between them, drummer Rama, vocalist Yudha and guitarist/bassist Hendika have served time with the likes of Anthropophagus Depravity, Perveration, Restlessly, Putrescent and many more – but together they have created something that outshines all their previous individual achievements. Following on from their 2024 demo, Shattered Of Sanity, the trio have summoned up a full-length album of stunning ferocity and chilling atmosphere, an album that enthrals and utterly devastates in equal measure – Annihilating The Consciousness!
Annihilating The Consciousness is a relentless, white-knuckle ride through extreme horror, with the band utilising their fearsome dexterity and musical ability in the pursuit of the ultimate in brutality and insanity. The velocity and intensity invoked in tracks like ‘The Sinister Symphony’ is absolutely staggering. This is not an album that you simply listen to; you experience it physically as it ravages your senses, sending your heartbeat into overdrive. ‘Whispers Through The Shadowed Gates’ unleashes overwhelming cascades of gore, with a final vocal exhortation of colossal impact, while ‘Eyes Of Madness’ reveals superbly constructed riffs and incredible drumming, with a mid-song pace shift that is perfectly timed and executed. Elsewhere ‘Chaos Unleashed’ is gargantuan and earthshaking and ‘Sanctified In Ashes’ somehow manages to raise the levels of breathless fury still higher, taking the album to a shattering conclusion. This is just the beginning for Vile Desolation but in Annihilating The Consciousness they have summoned up a work of true, grim magnificence.
Mixed and mastered at Endless Gruesome Studio to bring out every shuddering bass frequency and bestial roar, every mind-flaying assault of guitar madness and bone-breaking drum beat, Annihilating The Consciousness will be set loose upon the world by the devils of Comatose Music, on May 8th. Completed by the unsettling artwork of Timbul Cahyono (Monstrosity, Terrorizer, Witchburner etc) Vile Desolation’s debut album has set the standard for all brutal death metal albums that dare to follow in its wake.
