“Fallon has never sounded like he’s had more fun than this: it’s infectious…Spectacular.” – Uncut 8/10

“Fallon’s unmistakable blue-collar rock and heartfelt vocals remain front and centre…a more than welcome return from the Gaslight Anthem vocalist.” – Vive Le Rock 7/10

“Brian brings back the rock.” – Record Collector

“Not Bad For New Jersey finds Brian Fallon leaning into a bigger, more exuberant sound than some of his previous solo outings. Drawing inspiration from classic radio staples like Bryan Adams’ ‘Run to You’ and the Police’s ‘Every Breath You Take,’ the album blends power pop hooks with the blue-collar romanticism that has defined much of his songwriting career.”

While much of Not Bad for New Jersey bristles with a restless energy, the album includes such slow-burning standouts as “Love at the End of the World (feat. Brandon Flowers),” a quietly hypnotic meditation on shedding the illusion of permanence in favor of what’s immediate and real premiering today at all DSPs and streaming services.

“Brandon’s a truly gifted musician with a really unique instinct for structure, and he had the idea of writing a song with no chorus,” says Fallon, noting that he and Flowers first bonded over their shared admiration for Depeche Mode and C.S. Lewis’ 1942 novel, The Screwtape Letters. “We were talking about our ideas about love and had the idea to write a love song set at the end of the world, and it all came together almost faster than we could process it.”

Fallon will mark the arrival of Not Bad For New Jersey with the release day kickoff of an epic world tour, getting underway today and tonight, September 10, with an in-store performance and album signing session at New York City’s Rough Trade Below followed by a sold-out headline show at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. Backed by his solo band, The Painkillers, the acclaimed singer, songwriter, and frontman of The Gaslight Anthem will then rock North America, Europe, and the United Kingdom through mid-November. Special guests include Dave Hause (September 10-14), Donovan Woods (September 15-18), Ben Nichols (September 20-27), Tim Barry (September 29-October 14), and Chris Farren (November 2-15). The itinerary also includes an eagerly awaited festival appearance at Chicago, IL’s Riot Fest (September 19) as well as in-store performances and album signing sessions across North America. For complete details and remaining ticket information, please visit www.brianfallon.net/tour.

Produced by longtime collaborator Butch Walker (Green Day, Jesse Malin, Taylor Swift) at Walker’s studio just outside Nashville, Not Bad For New Jersey sees Fallon summoning up a frenetic collision of power pop and heartland rock, the perfect sonic counterpart to the hot-blooded sincerity that has driven his songwriting for close to three decades. The veteran rocker is joined by a number of very special guests, including The Killers’ Brandon Flowers, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen, avant-garde guitar legend Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull), and GRAMMY® Award-winning country luminary Lori McKenna. Tracked mostly live in a series of freewheeling sessions with Walker (who handled bass, piano, backing vocals, and more) and drummer Eric Slick (Dr. Dog, Robyn Hitchcock, Adrian Belew), highlights include such recently released singles as “Pearls,” “Not Bad for New Jersey,” and “Better Before,” all available everywhere now.

“From the beginning I knew I had to fully lean into the passion and lunacy of all these songs I felt inspired by – there wasn’t much room for subtlety,” says Fallon, citing Bryan Adams’ “Run to You” and The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” as key touchstones. “There was so much childlike joy in writing and recording all these songs. The whole album came together so naturally, with a level of creative fulfillment I hadn’t experienced in a very long time.”
