BLONDES
BEAUTIFUL WORLD // OUT NOW // LISTEN HERE
IN SEPARATION EP // 14 JULY // PRESAVE HERE
After the rousing success of their recent singles Love In The Afternoon and The Basement – both of which were supported by BBC Radio 1 Future Artists with Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley’s BBC Introducing Show and BBC Radio Introducing Merseyside as well as countless editorial playlists across Spotify, Apple and Amazon – Nottingham’s indie rock troubadours BLONDES continue the support for their forthcoming In Separation EP with the captivating new offering BEAUTFUL WORLD.
Capturing more of the warm and invigorating aesthetic they have been developing in recent times, Beautiful World sees them pursue a rich and immersive atmosphere throughout. Opting for a more euphoric and airy appeal this time around, their newest outing continues their ascent as one of the more mesmerising names emerging right now.
Speaking about Beautiful World, Alex from BLONDES says: “Beautiful World feels like our first proper pop song. It’s my favourite that we’ve written so far. It’s about our relationship with our environment and each other. We wrote it to speak not just for ourselves but to anyone that finds themselves looking around at our world and wondering just how we’ve become so disconnected from one another and the planet. We hope you like it.”
Following the rapturous support for their 2021 Out The Neighbourhood EP, BLONDES knew that their next steps had extremely big boots to fill. Produced in parts by Rich Turvey and Anthony Genn, the In Separation EP sees them showcase some of their most passionate songwriting to date, capturing a warm and effervescent tone in the process.
Talking about the new EP, the band say: “In Separation is a collection of songs written and recorded over the past two years. It’s a project that explores the ways in which we become disconnected from one another, taking you on an emotional journey through separation to reconciliation. It speaks to the ways we live with, and without, each other. We feel it reflects more of the breadth of our songwriting than our first project, with us having matured a little both personally and musically since Coming Of Age and our Out The Neighbourhood EP.”

Fresh off the back of a run of support shows with Inhaler on their recent UK tour, BLONDES have now announced a string of new live dates for next month, as follows:

Drawing upon their experiences as four young adults coming of age in unusual times, BLONDES capture the euphoria and the nostalgia of growing up in their unique brand of guitar and synth driven indie pop.
First forming at the University of Nottingham at the end of 2017, the four-piece quickly developed a loyal following of fans eager to get their hands on copies of their self-released EP. After two years of playing bars and eventually filling local venues, the real eureka moment for BLONDES came in the summer of 2019. Having attended Glastonbury Festival, the band were inspired to continue making music and to finally finish writing a song that guitarist Alex Davison had started several years previously; a song about chasing dreams that would eventually develop into Coming of Age. The anthemic chorus – “Here, something really could happen” – became the band’s self-fulfilling prophecy.
In October 2020, their single Coming Of Age became an overnight viral sensation on TikTok. Thousands of videos featuring the song appeared across the platform, racking up millions of views, and BLONDES
were suddenly trending. In response, TikTok launched an official Coming of Age trend on behalf of the band, streams of the song went through the roof and record labels across the world began to take notice of the four young friends.
Following this initial success, the band signed with C3 Records, established in 2018 by Charlie Walker and Charles Attal, co-founders of C3 Management and C3 Presents, one of the world’s largest festival producers. Single releases Coming Of Age, Minimum Wage and Out The Neighbourhood followed, propelling BLONDES onto stages at Reading and Leeds, Lollapalooza Berlin, Dot To Dot, Liverpool Sound City and Live At Leeds, and supporting Stereophonics and Inhaler on tour.
