Bleed From Within // Heart Of A Coward // Live Review // The Limelight // Belfast
Those bad boys from Scotland are back on Irish soil once again, Bleed From Within hasn’t been here in quite a while and thankfully we have the pleasure of their company this fine Friday evening, once again at the home of serious metal in Belfast, The Limelight.
Alongside them is one of the UK’s finest Metalcore acts, Heart Of A Coward I believe, this will be my first encounter with the band, unless we cross paths at Bloodstock over the years, which is possibly covering the likes of The Sophie Stage etc. it’s another early show, with The opener kicking off shortly after 7 pm, Heart Of A Coward hit the stage and get laid right into the unsuspecting Belfast audience. The energy onstage is off the charts, the riffage is sublime, and we are getting the band’s full force, and it feels good.
Frontman Kaan Tasan is orchestrating the crowd at his whim, circle pits on his command, and the audience is eating out of his hand as he bends and breaks them at will. The spitfire lyrics and equally brutal riffage from the stage hit you right in the chest. The Belfast crowd are lapping this up, they just can’t get enough but tonight’s set is short and sweet and keeps the Belfast audiences thirsty for more and Bleed From Within are going to quench that thirst and then some!

With a quick turn around one by one the lads hit the stage, the enthusiasm in the roof is off the charts, like a powder keg is about to blow! And blow it does, as BFW kick shizzle off The Limelight just goes fucking nuts! The guy’s sound is savage! They have been honing their craft for some time now and the bangers just keep coming one after another, the level of brutality that they can toss out at will is simply a beautiful thing. As equally technically proficient as they are brutal in their aggressive sound, you just keep coming back for more.
And they no shortage of ammunition to take you down, the band barely stop, the tracks just keep coming at you in a relentless assault on the senses, and you barely get the opportunity to catch your breath as they seamlessly flow from one song to the next. Frontman Scott Kennedy just keeps delivering, his powerhouse vocals and guttural growls piercing the cavernous room, it’s only when he takes the time to chat with the crowd that you get that thick Scottish accent, as he laments about taking so long for the band to get back here and how much Ireland North and south remind him so much of home.
Cos we’re all a bunch of fuckin lunatics, metalheads and alcoholics! Who LOVE their metal, the fits are pumping in the air, and the room whilst not sold out has a seriously healthy crowd in it, but that’s why you don’t leave it so long between visits, you need to remind these motherfuckers what you’re all about, so this is like a reawakening/ reaquataince of sorts pumping the blood through the northern Irish veins once again and reminding them what Bleed From Within are all about.
As the bodies start to stream over the top into the pit the security is reminded of what a melt gig can be like also, they usually have a well-behaved crowd here at the LL but tonight it’s a fuckin rager all courtesy of one of Scotland’s finest exports!
I cannot praise these guys enough: a stellar performance, one heavy-ass metal community welcoming Bleed From Within back into the fold with open arms what’s not to love? As they head off to support the mighty Slipknot, I am sure they will once again be received well and will gain massive support from the maggots.
These guys have come a long way and have become a real flag bearer for rock and metal on this side of the pond and a band we should all be proud to call our own.
