Die Entweihung is the solo project of Belarusian multi-instrumentalist Denis Tereschenko, brought into being in 2007 after Tereschenko’s relocation to northern Israel. The project began as a raw black metal entity, but over the course of an incredible eleven full length albums in fifteen years – augmented by two EPs and a compilation release – Die Entweihung gradually evolved, changing as its creator changed, both as a man and a musician. 2015s Neverending Terrorism marked a pivotal point in the gradual metamorphosis of Die Entweihung as Tereschenko fully embraced a more overtly heavy metal style of music and a lyrical approach that tackled the ever more disconcerting reality of the world that surrounded him. Now the time has come for the twelfth album from Die Entweihung; an album that features the incredibly powerful vocals of Alena 7 (Nocturnal Pestilence etc) throughout and incorporates elements of progressive metal and thrash metal into an ever more expansive and vibrant sonic palette. Worldwide Terror is about to be unleashed!
Opening with the high energy metallic attack of title track, ‘Worldwide Terror’, Die Entweihung’s new album is a challenging, unforgiving and confrontational explosion of sound. Alena 7’s vocals are delivered with passion, venom and incredible force, while Tereschenko’s snarling guitar work walks just to the left of the established path – his riffs and melody lines possessing an individual creative flavour and a progressive twist. From the rolling rhythms of ‘Newborn’ to the jagged, shuddering riffs of ‘Eight Billion Headed Whore’, a wild dervish dance with a superb melodic chorus, you can’t look away from this unfurling dark drama for a second. The spiralling guitar motifs of ‘Really Your Life’ settle into a direct, attacking groove only to break apart like an exploding star, spiralling out to all points of the compass. This is genuinely different music, with one foot in the known and one in the unknown. A slip in focus and you’ll find yourself lost in a minotaur’s labyrinth of punishing, bewildering sounds. The album finishes with its most powerful and affecting track – a definitive expression of Die Entweihung’s complex, characterful and emotive music. ‘The Darkest Morning’ moves through different moods and emotions; from melancholic reflection and sadness to fear and confusion, horror, anger…reaching a fierce, blasting peak of agony and rage before finally concluding, heads bowed in deepest sorrow. By fully utilising the stunning vocal intensity of Alena 7’s vocals across Worldwide Terror and incorporating additional touches of cello, violin and saxophone, Denis Tereschenko has lifted Die Entweihung to unprecedented heights.
Produced and mixed by Denis Tereschenko and mastered by Sondre Solberg at Lakeside Studio, Worldwide Terror combines a raw, high impact attack with a stark clarity of sound that allows each element of the music to speak and be heard. Completed by the distinctive imagery of Belarusian artist Olga Kann (Cnoc An Tursa, Monumentum Damnati, Northborn etc) Worldwide Terror will be released on CD and digital formats on August 7th by Morbid And Miserable Records and Southern Soundclash Records, with an exclusive Indonesian release being handled by Tikoes Kecemploeng Productions. It’s time to confront the horrors of reality, to stand up and be counted with Die Entweihung!
