Blackened metalcore band AZSHARA release Ashen Skies EP  on DAZE

Syracuse, NY has consistently been a home to metal and hardcore, and AZSHARA are carrying that legacy. Formed in 2023, the band released their demo through Ephyra that fall and then releases a remixed and remastered version on DAZE earlier this year. Now AZSHARA release their first true EP, Ashen Skies through DAZE. Recorded with Chaz Torok at The Source (Balmora, Wreckage) in New Haven, CT, the five tracks deliver a crushing and forlorn blend of blackened metalcore.

The EP opens with a classic line from Donnie Darko before transcending straight into unabridged chaos. Puncturing riffs, blast beats, and gurgling vocals bridge metalcore and melodeath. Presiding over the tracks in a overwhelming sense of melancholy that seeps through lyrics and rhythms.

When asked about the themes of the record, vocalist Collin Flynn simply stated:

“I just noticed that a lot of melodic death metal and metalcore bands that had an orange album cover all have a pretty similar vibe, and I wanted to try and capture that.”
