Black Dog Moon Announce New Single ‘Neon Queen’ And Planet Rockstock 2025 Live Appearance

Black Dog Moon are a five-piece blues-infused rock band from Ireland, known for their powerful performances and unique sound. Formed in 2020, the band quickly made a name for itself in the local music scene.

They have already been played on BBC Radio ‘Precious Metal’ show and secured features in several publications including Rock N’ Load Magazine, Soundcheck, Bamni and The Beat Ireland.

To date, they have played all the main rock n blues haunts in Northern Ireland several times now including The Diamond Rock Club Ahoghill, Bangor Rock n Blues, Cookstown Rock n Blues and headlined the main stage on the Saturday night at Hilden Beer and Music Festival at end of August 2025 marking their third appearance at the festival.

The band will release their new single ‘Neon Queen’ on Tuesday 16th September 2025 which is the first single taken from their forthcoming new album ‘Hell and Back’ which is now due for release at the end of the year just in time for the band’s Planet Rockstock 2025 live appearance on Saturday 29th November 2025.

The single was recorded at Narrow Water Studio Warrenpoint by Steve Fearnley. The track was written by guitarist Daniel Martin and is inspired by a lady of the night he frequented on a trip to Amsterdam a couple of years back.’.

Black Dog Moon’s sound and songs have been received very well and have gained notoriety for being diverse in their song writing. Conal says: “I want people to come to our gigs and leave thinking they have witnessed every genre of rock and metal during the show.

Even when we really rock, we try to stay melodic. We are recording this track, and the album live with no click throughout to try and keep that live feel. We feel we are slowly and organically growing and moving up the ladder and have made a good name for ourselves on the local scene.”

With no promoter or booking agent, the band have secured a slot at this year’s Planet Rockstock in Trecco Bay Wales on Saturday 29th November 2025 playing same day as Wayward Sons, Massive Wagons and Ugly Kid Joe.

About The Band:

Black Dog Moon’ is a 5-piece rock band from County Down, Northern Ireland. The band was formed by lead singer Conal Montgomery 54, who, after finding his sobriety in 2016, wrote and recorded two solo albums, and has returned to his roots writing a selection of rock songs which culminated in the band’s first album which was released on 28th June 2024 also called Black Dog Moon.

Conal was at the helm of classic rockcover band ‘Sweetleaf’ for most of his career touring Ireland and the UK.  ‘Sweetleaf’ performed at The Bulldog Bash, England in 2008, which was headlined by Motörhead.  Conal is a professional musician in the Irish scene and performs music from his two previous albums and has recently supported Eric Bell (ex-Thin Lizzy).  With a voice in company with the likes of Dio, this guy is certainly one to keep a close eye on.

Nicky Brown 48 (Bass) has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Richie Havens from the original Woodstock.  That should be enough said, but he has also performed extensively throughout Ireland and the UK with bands such as ‘Brownstone’ and ‘The Speedy Mullan Blues Band’, and was part of the original lineup of the successful ‘Blues At The Mill’ Festival in Ireland.  Nicky is one of the most respected and talented bassists on the blues scene in Ireland, and brings with him the style and attitude of what Rock is all about!

Stevie Glackin 52 (Drums) has been on the live rock and blues scene for many years, taking influence from classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and ZZ Top.A big sound from the king of wands, adds and truly enhances the rhythm section of Black Dog Moon given that he and Nicky have performed together since 2004.

Completing the band lineup is Daniel Martin 28 (Guitar) and Dylan Kelly 27, 2  young superstar guitarists who have talent in abundance.  These guys come as a package with both guitarists creating a wall of rock for your ears with melodic harmonies that have tinges of Thin Lizzy greatness!  Daniel and Dylan were the original guitarists with successful young Irish rockers ‘Saint Sapphire’,

Black Dog Moon are already making a noise on the local scene playing the famous Diamond Rock Club in early 2024 and due to appear again in November after impressing. They have also appeared at The Hilden Beer Festival for the second year running and have been invited back to headline in 2025. They have secured a slot at Planet Rockstock in November 2025. This blend of youth and experience has a bite to it. The Dogs Are Coming!!!
