Once heard, never forgotten. Bernie Tormé was a ‘one of a kind’ guitarist. Never one to blow his own trumpet, Tormé chose to let his music do the talking for him. ‘Final Fling’ was the name of what Bernie had planned to be his last run across the UK. The shows each night proved time and again that the mercurial Irishman had lost none of his joy of playing live, every night was characteristically Bernie Tormé  – loud, brash, energetic, and unmistakeably him. And did we say loud!?!

The sadly prophetic ‘The Final Fling’ tour in 2018 was a huge success, with Bernie and his band (drummer Mik Gaffney and bassist Sy Morton) in dazzling form night after night, the trio soon began to regret the decision not to record any of the shows, so with the set fresh in their minds, the band loaded the gear into the live room and set up one more time to run through a set of classics numbers, spanning Tormé’s storied career. Featuring classics from across his solo career, as well as nods to his days in Ozzy Osbourne’s band and Gillan, ‘Final Fling’ captures the essence of what made Bernie so special.

‘Final Fling’ was painstakingly mixed and mastered by Bernie’s son Eric Tormey.

Keeping Bernie’s memory alive.

‘(Bernie) did me a great favour. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be doing it now. I’d have given up’.
Ozzy Osbourne, 2018

More on Bernie Tormé.

Guitar legend, blues rock psychedelic shredmeister, glam punk sleaze rock frontman: Bernie Tormé enjoyed a long and remarkable career. Hit records, world tours and international acclaim came as lead guitarist in Gillan. After which, Bernie stepped in for Ozzy Osbourne (in the aftermath of guitar legend Randy Rhoads‘ tragic death) before going on to front Electric Gypsies and Tormé. Teaming up with Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider and former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, Bernie put together Desperado. Later reuniting with ex-Gillan colleague, John McCoy, and drummer Robin Guy in GMT.  Returning to the stage in 2013, Bernie began working in his favoured trio format once again, releasing three critically acclaimed albums; ‘Flowers & Dirt‘ (2014), ‘Blackheart’ (2015) and the 3CD ‘Dublin Cowboy’ (2017) package (comprising a live, an acoustic, and a new electric studio album). Bernie followed this up with a celebrated appearance at the legendary Sweden Rock festival, where he got to meet up with Ozzy Osbourne (for the first time in 30 years!), before releasing what was to be his last studio album, ‘Shadowland’ in 2018.

A true maverick to the end, Bernie tragically passed away in March 2019, the day before what would have been his 67th birthday.
