Baltimore-based Pinkshift introduce their new era with their explosive new single, Evil EyeWith this release, Pinkshift playfully and fiercely speak on the state of mass surveillance in 2025, and the idea of having to outrun the “Evil Eye”. Their first single of 2025, ‘Evil Eye’ signifies a heavy shift in sound for Pinkshift, repackaging their signature racing riffs, soaring melodies, and crashing breakdowns in a new skin. The song opens with a single line spoken in hindi: “बुरी नज़र मुझे छू नहीं सकती//The Evil Eye can’t touch me”

From the stage every night this week, Ashrita [vocals] shares:

“The year is 2025: we are living in the age of mass surveillance, where they are watching you. They’re watching everything you do. They know who you talk to, they know what you like, they know where you live- ” taunting, “- they know what you look like. You better not slip up.

Pinkshift bleed catharsis, and in classic Pinkshift fashion, ‘Evil Eye’ brings out the band’s heaviest, catchiest, and most danceable riffs. With Paul [guitar, he/him] and Myron [drums, he/him] racing through heavy riffs and complex crashing drums, Ashrita [vocalist] shows their growing vocal prowess with their strongest vocal performance yet – both in soaring melodies and heavy hardcore screams. It’s clear: Pinkshift aren’t holding back anymore. With their strongest performance to date, ‘Evil Eye’ ushers in Pinkshift’s new era of liberation and emotional release.

Currently, the band are making their way across the USA opening up for The Linda Lindas. The dynamic show even caught the eye of Paramore’s Hayley Williams at the Nashville date, where they all shared the stage for a song.

In  their set on tour, Pinkshift share their message about mass surveillance with a pulsing sense of dread and simultaneous excitement and togetherness, as drummer Myron Houngbedji relentlessly beats the kick drum, pulling new fans who have never moshed before into a racing circle pit on the dance floor. Their electrifying live presence makes for a fan experience that cuts to the core.
