BAELFYR PREPARE FOR NEW EP RELEASE WITH THE LAUNCH OF THEIR NEW SINGLE
Rising blackened British heavyweights, BAELFYR, are set to release their colossal new EP, Empowered By Hatred, on Friday 8th August —a date that also sees the band storm the stage at this year’s Bloodstock Festival. To build anticipation, the ferocious Peterborough-based quintet have now debuted their blistering new single and video, The Consequence Of Endless Expansion – https://www.youtube.com/watch?
Formed in 2023, BAELFYR deliver a sound that’s as raw as it is relentless. Comprised of Allan Thomson (vocals), Harry Mills (guitar), Tom Mawbey (guitar), Zak Banson-Noond (bass), and Lorraine Staves (drums), the band quickly carved a name for themselves with their immersive live shows and powerful songwriting. Early tracks Disciples and Time, the Great Betrayer—produced by Neil Hudson (Grindfarm Studios)—earned widespread radio play and cemented the band’s presence in the UK metal scene.
Now, with Empowered By Hatred, BAELFYR have pushed their sound even further. Speaking about the new release, the band state: “We wanted to create something that retained the rawness and nastiness of the genre but to pull back on some of the aspects present in modern metal. So you won’t find any shredding solos or 300bpm double kicks. Instead, we’ve made an effort to concentrate on memorable riffs and a meaty, and some might say old school, sound.”
The result is a dynamic and unflinching EP—rich in atmosphere, heavy in tone, and packed with lyrical weight. Exploring themes of mental health, abuse, and humanity’s treatment of the world, BAELFYR’s debut EP doesn’t just make a statement—it issues a manifesto.
Empowered By Hatred is out August 8th, coinciding with the band’s Bloodstock Festival debut. Be ready.
