(May 14, 2024) Athens, GA indie rock band Futurebirds announce the release of their new album, Easy Company, on August 9, 2024 via Dualtone Music Group, a MNRK Company. To give listeners a taste of the album, the band drops the Easy Company EP today, a 3-song teaser with a song from each of the band’s distinct frontmen. The tracks “Colorados,” “Bloom,” and “Up and Out,” are available on all digital service providers now. Listen to the EP and pre-order Easy Company here Featuring four sharply-written songs apiece from each of the frontmen, singer/ songwriters Daniel Womack, Thomas Johnson, and Carter King, Easy Company feels like a celebration of the tight-knit bonds that have held Futurebirds aloft since 2008. Easy Company was recorded with producer Brad Cook in the border town of Tornillo, TX, and features Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield, who trades verses with King on the album’s title track, and Drive-By Truckers co-founder Patterson Hood, who delivers a spoken-word monologue during “Soft Drugs.” A brass section even makes a brief appearance. The result is a bold blend of old and new, delivered by a band of brothers who’ve never sounded so invigorated. Thomas Johnson remarks: “‘Up and Out’ is about breaking out of the cycle of feeling sorry for myself, and how clearing out the past is an essential part of that. Forgive, forget, up, and out. For the video, I put on my favorite faux-fur coat (on loan from my lady) and took the boys down to the dock, one of my favorite pastimes. This video was a blast for us to film, between the chaos on the dock scenes and the merry-go-round madness, this felt like a video I would have filmed with my friends in the ’90s, and I love that.” |
