Transatlantic pop-rock quartet, As It Is, have today released, ‘Lose Your Way & Find Yourself’, the first new music from the band’s classic lineup since 2018 and their first for new label, FLG.
‘Lose Your Way & Find Yourself’, was created out of friendship, healing and the rediscovery of purpose. After years of personal and collective struggles, including departures from the band and frontman Patty Walters’ battle with identity, trauma and the pressure of living solely through music, the quartet reconnected not as bandmates but as friends and brothers. “I now have brothers because of As It Is,” Patty shares. “Because of how much they loved me and showed up for me when I needed them. I feel like we are going to be brothers first always and till the end because of that.” That bond, rebuilt through support and honesty, gradually opened the door to making music together again, but this time on their own terms, free from pressure or expectation.
The result is a cathartic and deeply personal track born from a year of patience, love and reflection. Musically it is delicate yet bold, inspired by the bands Patty and Ben (Langford-Biss) grew up on, while lyrically it is raw and unfiltered, celebrating scars, survival and a brighter outlook after years of darkness. “We haven’t written a song together that is brutal heart on sleeve honesty in what we have gone through without having to fit it to a narrative or fit it to an album,” Ben explains. “However you can never manufacture genuine connection with people. Just find what is honest to you and honest to your journey, and that’s all any artist has to offer to the world.” The accompanying one-shot video, choreographed and performed by Patty and Kate Hannah, mirrors this journey from pain to expression, from isolation to joy, embodying the band’s renewed spirit.
By putting themselves first and recognising that their connection away from the music fuels what they create within it, As It Is have crafted one of their most vital and heartfelt statements. “In the past I had no choice but to be in As It Is. This new era of the band is my choice. Our choice. A choice,” Patty reflects. Lose Your Way & Find Yourself isn’t just a comeback single, it’s a declaration of contentment, peace and hope, and a reminder that the brightest days for As It Is may still lie ahead.
