NEW ALBUM RUN OUT JUNE 10 VIA ARISING EMPIRE

Knowing when something is no longer possible is important.

For many years, the number of people suffering from burnout or depression has been steadily increasing in Germany. The speed of life seems to be getting faster and faster. For some, this makes them all the more reluctant to show weakness. It therefore seems more appropriate than ever that the Berlin post-hardcore trio Future Palace wrote a song about accepting one’s own weaknesses in the face of this zeitgeist.

“Defeating Gravity” is a sonic monument between emo and post-hardcore, melody and brute force, impetus and vulnerability, as the song’s theme demands in the midst of an emotional stream of acceptance and resignation. Watch the video here.

The song appears on the band’s upcoming sophomore album Run, out June 10 on Arising Empire. Pre-order it here. It comes in CD, limited colored vinyl, and bundle formats.

“As the name of the single suggests, ‘Defeating Gravity’ is about wanting to defeat something that seems invincible,” comments singer Maria. “So often life takes you to the edge of the abyss, but you try never to fall. Too often, in your stubbornness and ignorance, you forget that you are only human. ‘Defeating Gravity’ focuses on accepting your own limitations and weaknesses after you’ve pushed them aside for too long.”

For the music video, Future Palace worked with Peter Leukhardt (Annisokay, Beyond The Black, Rising Insane). For the visual implementation, the band went into a hall in their rehearsal house and made singer Maria levitate over a truss, analogous to the song title — sometimes it’s good to be above things.

The visuals for this track, and all the previously released songs, make it clear that the fight with one’s own demons is a basic theme of the entire work.

Run was produced by Julian Breucker and Annisokay guitarist Christoph Wieczorek, who also mixed and mastered the record.

The album explores the aftermath of a toxic relationship in a stunning and vulnerable way. The struggle with one’s own salvation is only the beginning — even after escaping from a tough situation. The band sets these painful processes to music in dramatic post-hardcore fashion, which atmospherically reproduces the ups and downs of emotions. Kindred sonic spirits are Holding Absence, Spiritbox, While She Sleeps, Bring Me The Horizon, and Pvris.

Future Palace released their debut Escape via Arising Empire and have since accumulated several million streams across streaming platforms.

Lepizig-based rock outfit blacktoothed will release their full-length album JULI on July 29 via Arising Empire. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for “So Real.” Watch it here.

“So Real” is a guitar-based yet playful piece, featuring personal lyrics. The catchy chorus hook and contrasting the bluesy verse show that “even triplet parts can stay damn well in your head,” drummer David states.

“Also, this song changed a lot in the writing process, which makes it really special to us, since every little detail ended up in the song because we chose it out of all the options we had,” adds vocalist Hendrik.

JULI was created in collaboration with the producing team of Sawdust Recordings (Christoph Wieczorek and Julian Breucker) and is proof that blacktoothed have truly found their musical style.

“Recording JULI was a funny ‘3-way experience,’ involving three different recording sessions over the course of two years, changing band members, finally getting the flow in our songwriting process, and of course, lots of bad jokes and food with our producing team. To sum it up, we might finally know what we are doing musically,” the band says.

“With JULI, our main concern is to create awareness to the fact that we carry a lot of potential in ourselves to change the lives of our loved ones for the worse, but at the same time to recognize how we might be able to help those affected,” they finish. Ultimately, the record is characterized by a combo rock, filigree guitar work, and  catchy pop-hooks — all topped off with an ’80s vibe.
