Noel Gallagher, Peter Doherty, Sam Fender and Louis Tomlinson all recognise an exemplary singer-songwriter when they hear one, and Andrew Cushin’s burgeoning reputation is primed for a much bigger public discovery as he today unveils his new album ‘Love Is For Everyone’. Listen HERE.
‘Love Is For Everyone’ is the sound of an artist who is growing into his ever-expanding ability. Now Andrew is just as adept as delivering raucous rock ‘n’ roll and anthemic singalongs as he is with the introspective singer-songwriter style of his early career. Just as importantly, his lyricism has evolved too. While he still explores personal, first-hand narratives, ‘Love Is For Everyone’ focuses on shared experiences, and particularly the universal need for people to come together as a community and maintain a sense of hope in tough times.
Andrew says, “It’s an album I’m incredibly proud of. I was always very conscious in the studio to create something both relatable, upbeat and something that felt like it was made by a lad in his mid 20s. I think everyone falls in and out of love, it’s the most natural thing in the world so I found it both easy and enjoyable writing and centred the album around that subject.”
The new focus track ‘Standing By My Side’ is the emotional heart of the record. Andrew’s booming voice conveys heartfelt appreciation and admiration for the person who supported him when he needed the most – a personal take that complements the album’s core theme of love being the one thing that can help everyone overcome the obstacles in their lives. The music grows in stature as those emotions become heightened, building from plaintive acoustics into a sweeping, full-bodied string arrangement.
He adds, “Standing by my Side I think is the most typical “love” song on the album… it’s by far my favourite on the record and holds a great story about someone very special… something I think, or hope.. most people will be able to relate to.”
The singles that have preceded the album have focused on the upbeat side of Andrew’s sonic spectrum, from the melodic rock ‘n’ roll of ‘Alright!’ to the jangly indie-pop of ‘Song For You’ and the raw, ragged energy of ‘New World Blazing’. But the rest of ‘Love Is For Everyone’ introduces a plethora of new highlights waiting to be discovered, such as the fiery intensity of ‘Hollywood’, an affecting tribute to Andrew’s roots with ‘I’m Coming Home’, and the grunge dynamics of ‘Kiss The Sky’.
The ‘Love Is For Everyone’ album was entirely written by Andrew and was produced by Gareth Nuttall (Lottery Winners, Frank Turner, The K’s).
Physical copies of ‘Love Is For Everyone’ are available HERE. Options include a signed Magpie Edition black-and-white vinyl, a signed gold vinyl, and a specially priced £5 CD wallet edition which is boosted with a live bonus track, ‘More Than You Know’.
Andrew has already started an acoustic album tour to commemorate the release of ‘Love Is For Everyone’, which continues in Stockton this evening.
