Alternative rock crew Right on, Kid have a “Bad Feeling”; drop first new music in two and a half years

Albuquerque alternative rock quintet Right on, Kid are back with their first new music in two and a half years.

Following on from Billboard-charting debut full-length Life is A Movie, the emotive rockers are back with “Bad Feeling”, a track which continues to raise the ever-ascending ceiling of the New Mexico crew’s sonic output.

Speaking on the new single, guitarist RJ Butler lays out: “We wrote this song in the basement of (producer) Seth Henderson’s house the night before we were due to track guitars and vocals. “Bad Feeling” is the quintessential comeback song for us, especially since our last release was almost 3 years ago. We felt like we needed to write a song that was raw, unapologetic, and loud.”

Butler continues, “Lyrically, it is about the idea of quiet self-destruction and feeling like you are misunderstood. We wanted to capture feeling you get when you wake up in the morning with no motivation to keep yourself together.”

Right on, Kid have come a long way since debut EP Forever Missing Out. Follow up EP When Words are Enough would go onto garner national acclaim, hitting the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and propelling the band onto the lexicon of the alternative rock/pop-punk fan.

“Packed with angst” – Alternative Press

As their sonic styling developed, pacey pop-punk matured into considered, emo-laced alternative rock. This realignment jarred an extra layer of expression on 2021’s debut full-length, Life is a Movie. The release would pick up acclaim from some of music and entertainment’s leading tastemakers, with the band opening a Foo Fighters show on the VIP stage, as their star continued to grow across North America and beyond.

“Boasting enough energy to power all the lights in Tinsel Town and more heartfelt lines than a well-practiced Oscars awards speech, Right On, Kid bursts on the scene with their debut album, Life Is A Movie” – Hollywood Life

New single “Bad Feeling” sees the band continuing to push the envelope with an anthem that strikes a confluent marriage of catharsis and grit; edgy, angsty but unerringly accessible. Indeed Right on, Kid are the perfect winter warmer, as they kick off an action-packed 2024.
