Drew Davies is set to release his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Holloway Nights” on 26th January 2024. This dark rock synth odyssey is released with track “Holloway Nights” as its lead single, spearheading the sonic assault on the senses with funk licks combining with a maelstrom of textural electronics. Numerous alt rock agent provocateurs from past and present influenced Davies on this brooding and self-reflective work. Names like Bowie, Faith no More and Talk Talk combine with a love for synth pioneers like John Carpenter, Brian Eno and the western shades of Morricone. With these reference points one can understand the occasional comparisons to contemporary luminaries such as Bleachers, Creeper and Big Black Delta.
Drew states:
“The themes on this album are love, loss and hope for a better future. The album acts as a musical snapshot of my life over the past few years. I produced this record with the help of some great friends in my old apartment on the junction of Holloway and Camden Road; it was mainly written and recorded at night. With Joe Meek’s Telstar Studios constantly within view. I tried to channel that experimental spirit into the creation of this record.”
The album was mixed by Danny Woodward, Whitewood Recordings and mastered by Graeme Lynch, 209 Mastering – Circa Waves, Ladytron, The Coral, Miles Kane, Dream Nails Marshall Records.
Drew Davies staunchly claims new territory as he prepares his latest solo album, Holloway Nights. He’s written many songs and he’s played some iconic shows. From London’ s Scala and legendary Underworld to Download Festival & the Brudenell Social. He’s also been fortunate enough to have his music played by BBC DJ’s such as Mickey Bradley (BBC Ulster) Gary Crowley (BBC London), Bruce Dickinson (BBC 6), Jericho Keys (BBC Introducing) and the late great Janice Long (BBC Wales) amongst others. Now residing in the post-industrial artistic hotbed of Glasgow, his latest work is his most evocative. Inspired by the world around him and the themes of love, loss and the human experience. Drew has created a sonic soundscape that can feel both ominous like a storm rolling over a city or comforting like the warm sun caressing the back of your neck. Listen to his music, Drew Davies has something to say.
‘Holloway Nights” is released via all streaming platforms and for physical distribution on 26th January 2024.
