‘TWENTYTWO.’
THE NEW ALBUM
OCTOBER 27

Alt-pop-punk good time rockers Skinny Knowledge announce their forward-striking and sing-along song packed new album ‘twentytwo.’ due for release October 27 on CD/bundle/digital platforms which can be pre-ordered HERE. Frontman and guitarist Andy L Smooth enthuses, “This is a journal of my life through 2022. I’ve always written songs that are honest, and come from real experiences, no fictional writing. Every word I sing is a true story, and real feelings that I’ve been through. This album is no exception.”
The highly anticipated UK south coast based bands sophomore album bears 11 songs, some of which were co-written with Matt Bigland of Dinosaur Pile-Up. Opening up on the inspiration, “I went through quite a traumatic time at the beginning of last year, and kind of lost all willingness to do anything, let alone write songs. I got in touch with Matt and we wrote ‘Going Up In Smoke’ in our first session. After that came about, I knew I was ready to write more. I had a lot of stuff to say, and I thought, what better way to say them than through songs.”
From the feel-good opening anthem ‘I Wanna (Rock N’ Roll’)’, to the emotionally charged ‘Goes Around Comes Around’ and the modern uplifting melodic-riffs of ‘Home’, the band also display their self-effacing humour with ‘A Song About Lunch’ deadpanning “It’s probably the deepest thinking on the album. It was difficult diving into myself to write the words.”. Bearing a reputation for not taking themselves too seriously, the escapade video for the amped up and defiant ‘Disobey’ is directed by Joe Hoey and captures Andy and the band (Max Harris guitar/vocals, Rab McGowan bass/vocals and Mike Rigler drums) at their flamboyant best.
On producing Andy states, “The overall sound of the album has taken a slightly heavier turn, but nothing too drastic. The thing I’m excited about is that we’ve formed our own ‘sound’ now as the debut (‘Don’t Turn Out the Lights’) was all me and recorded during lockdown. This time, we’re all involved which shines through.” The album was mixed by Andy and Harrison Perks (Frank Turner, The Answer), additional engineering by Joe Burgess at The Ranch Production House and mastered by Grant Berry of Fader Mastering (Boston Manor, Cold Years).
Capturing the vibrancy of the raw and raucous, early 90’s grunge and pop-punk scenes the brightly coloured 4 piece have gained praise and airplay from a number of high-profile platforms, including Planet Rock, Kerrang!, Classic Rock Magazine, BBC Introducing, HRH Radio, Amazing Radio, Emerging Rock Bands. Following the release and well received by fans and critics alike success of their debut album, they have brought their effervescent live show to various venues and festivals including Teddy Rocks and the inaugural Maid of Stone in Kent to a packed out marquee stage. The band will be playing Quarantine Rocks and have more appearances yet to be announced for 2023 and next year.
Grinning from ear to ear, the high energy cheeky-chappy Skinny Knowledge lads assure, “We’re super excited for everyone to hear ‘twenty two.’ as it’s for all, for everyone to enjoy. If you’ve ever been through a break-up, had any hard, difficult times and are feeling lots of mixed emotions, there will definitely be something on this album for you. Play it LOUD!”
