British metallers ACRES have announced an extended edition of their acclaimed recent album The Host, due out September 26 via Solid State Records. Serving as both a continuation and completion of the original release, this expanded version features three brand-new tracks. Today, the band shares the first of those three singles, ‘Push Me Away’, featuring guest vocals from The Plot In You vocalist, Landon Tewers. Speaking on the new single, Acres share, “‘Push Me Away’ is almost like a confession of self-doubt, a reflection on feeling like you’re the weight holding someone back, and believing they’d be better off without you,” the band says. “When we wrote this in the studio, we instantly knew this was the song we wanted to have a feature on and we honestly couldn’t think of anyone better than Landon. We’re so grateful he wanted to be part of this!” |

We all face an entity we can’t escape. It may rear its head under the guise of a drug, a drink, a hobby, or a significant other. No matter how bad it gets, we go back for more until we just can’t anymore…and nothing remains. Acres turned this universal struggle into inspiration for their aptly titled third full-length album, ‘The Host’ (out now via Solid State / Tooth and Nail Records). Working alongside producer and The Plot In You front man Landon Tewers, the UK quartet – Ben Lumber, Alex Freeman, Jack Rogers, Ash Scott – confront this universal affliction head-on with an unpredictable and undeniable hybrid of insurgently catchy melodies, neck-breaking grooves, and disarmingly seductive soundscapes. “The Host represents a bold step in a new direction for us as a band, we’ve always pushed ourselves to evolve with every album and never write the same record twice,” says singer Ben Lumber. “This time the process was unlike anything we’ve done before, working with Landon Tewers brought a fresh perspective and added a new flair to our sound that we’re really excited about!” |

Biography: Audiences initially fell under Acres’ spell in 2019 when they unveiled the fan favorite Lonely World. After grinding on the road, they made significant strides with 2023’s Burning Throne. “My Everything” reeled in 2.6 million Spotify streams followed by “Hold On” with another 2 million Spotify streams. Kerrang! applauded how, “Acres display their potential with some big choruses to match,” and When The Horn Blows hailed Burning Throne as “a classic metalcore album filled with swinging hooks, rough riffs, popping electronic elements and lovely vocals that turn into monster screams.” During October 2024, the band hopped the pond to record what would become The Host with none other than The Plot In You frontman Landon Tewers behind the board as producer. The musicians stayed at his Michigan studio. Beyond enjoying the onset of Halloween in America, they expanded their sonic palette by incorporating elements such as drop-tunings and leaning on the producer’s perspective, acumen, and wisdom. The album was lauded by Kerrang! Rock Sound, HM, Idobi, New Noise, and more. |
