ALBUM EVERYTHING IS ALIVE OUT JULY 28TH ON THIRTY TIGERS
“Exquisite harmonies and dazzling charm” – The Times
Today, acclaimed indie-folk quartet Darlingside release the exquisitely wistful song “Darkening Hour” from their upcoming album Everything Is Alive (out July 28th via Thirty Tigers). “Darkening Hour” encapsulates the essence of Everything Is Alive, one of greater despair and frustration which must be confronted before redemption can eventually occur. Listen to “Darkening Hour” HERE and pre-order Everything Is Alive HERE.
Everything Is Alive finds Darlingside taking risks, a departure for a band known for ubiquitous vocal harmonies and a uniquely democratic songwriting process. While lush arrangements and melodic word-building still flourish throughout the album, Darlingside is embracing the individual strengths of band members Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner and David Senft. The results are compelling, offering listeners an extra dimension of the band’s trademark lusciousness.
Darlingside is gearing up for an extensive U.S. tour to support Everything Is Alive, beginning August 29 in Nashville, TN. The tour lineup also marks a change for Darlingside, as Senft relinquishes his road duties and the album’s drummer Ben Burns and singer Molly Parden join the live run. A full list of tour dates is below and on the band’s website HERE.
Everything Is Alive was produced and recorded by the band and mixed by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Sufjan Stevens, Iron and Wine) in 2021. Darlingside’s first release was 2015’s Birds Say, which announced the band’s arrival as an eclectic, intelligent and dynamic foursome. Media across the board praised the release, including American Songwriter, Paste, Rolling Stone Country,NPR Music, The New Yorker and The Huffington Post, who called it, “…one of the great albums released this year.” Extralife followed, building the band’s fanbase and continuing to earn raves. Fish Pond Fish was released in 2020 to additional critical praise and the band shared the album with a beautifully produced series of livestreams while touring ceased during the pandemic.
