MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK SHARE THE SAME OLD WASTED WONDERFUL WORLD (DELUXE) DIGITALLY TODAY

“The album charts the journey the band have had over the last 10 years, almost like an amalgamation of what initially inspired them to make music together.” – Alt Press

“…the sounds of The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World feature a classic charm. However, nothing feels stale or repetitive — a major feat for a legacy artist.” – New Noise Magazine

“The band’s latest studio effort – The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World – may awaken long-forgotten emo echoes for some, yet it feels unmistakably grounded in the present moment.” – Glide Magazine

Today, pop-punk icons Motion City Soundtrack share a digital deluxe version of 2025’s The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World. The deluxe album features three additional tracks, with acoustic renditions of “Melancholia,” “Mi Corazon” and “Your Days Are Numbered.”

Revisiting the album a year later, the acoustic versions build on the lyrical foundations with a more intimate lens. “Melancholia” is elevated by bright acoustic guitar plucks and a lush, soaring chorus before breaking into a reimagined bridge, while “Mi Corazon” transforms from an alternative anthem to a mellow rock ballad, adding orchestral textures. The music box-style interpretation of “Your Days Are Numbered” adds impassioned tension through repetitive melodies.

After a decade long hiatus, the band returned last September with The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, recapturing the magic of their early days with renewed growth and maturity. Vocalist/guitarist Justin Pierre, guitarist Joshua Cain, bassist Matt Taylor, keyboardist Jesse Johnson and drummer Tony Thaxton reunited with Sean O’Keefe (Fall Out Boy, Plain White T’s) at the legendary Chicago studio, Electrical Audio. The outcome is a record transmuting the last decade of life experiences into the catchiest songs of their career, with features from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump (who co-wrote “Particle Physics”), Citizen’s Matt Kerekes and Deanna Belos of Sincere Engineer.

The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World documents the band’s last decade of self-discovery and assurance. Now with a deluxe edition, it invites listeners back into the world for a more immersive look at these tracks.
