Cambridge alt rockers Lonesome have today released their latest single ‘There’s A Piece Of Me’ via Easy Life Records, marking the band’s first new music following last year’s debut album ‘In the Hope This Finds You’.

A nostalgic reflection on identity, friendships, places and the versions of ourselves we leave behind, ‘There’s A Piece Of Me’ sees Lonesome explore a new side to their sound, capturing the quiet ache of growing up and the feeling of belonging to a world that no longer quite exists.

Speaking on the new single, Lonesome share, “Built around nostalgia, identity and the passing of time, the song looks back at the people, places and versions of ourselves that once felt permanent. It captures a generation raised on the promise of what adulthood might look like, only to arrive there and find something altogether different waiting for them.

There is warmth in looking backwards, but also a sense of loss. The memories remain familiar, yet the world around them has changed; friendships drift, places disappear, expectations shift, and somewhere amongst it all comes the realisation that pieces of who we were have been left behind.

At its heart, There’s a Piece of Me is about existing between those two realities, carrying the world that shaped you while learning how to live in the one that came after it.

It doesn’t attempt to resolve that feeling. Instead, it leaves the question hanging: when part of you still belongs to where you’ve been, how do you decide where you belong now?”

Lonesome create immersive, emotionally charged music that turns personal experience into something expansive and deeply human. Existing within their own unique sonic space, tastefully dubbed Cinematic Emo, their sound combines towering walls of ambience, crushing intensity and moments of stark intimacy, driven by impassioned vocals that can soar with hope or carry the weight of hurt, regret and sadness. Every release contributes to a wider story, with music, narrative and visual identity coming together to create something bigger than the songs themselves.

Formed in 2019, Lonesome have built their catalogue around love, loss, identity, change and the things we carry with us. Their debut EP, To Myself, From Myself, and subsequent single Inure laid the foundations for a trilogy that culminated in In the Hope This Finds You. Across ten interwoven tracks, the album explored grief, rage, betrayal and reluctant hope, creating a continuous narrative designed to be experienced as a whole.

The album’s story unfolded through singles including Liar, Save Your Words, You Say It’s Love and For We Are Strangers Again, earning support from Kerrang!, Spotify editorial, BBC Radio 1 Introducing Rock and Kerrang! Radio, where Lonesome were named Fresh Blood Featured Artist of the Week for both Liar and Save Your Words. Their reputation as a live band has continued to grow, including an appearance at 2000 Trees Festival.

Now, There’s A Piece Of Me opens the next chapter. Looking back on the people, places and versions of ourselves that time leaves behind, the single explores nostalgia, change and the strange feeling of being caught between who we were and who we are becoming. At its heart is the idea that while we can never truly return to the past, we can still find pieces of ourselves within it, and in the people who remember it with us.
