Today, Connecticut post-hardcore band Montclair release their new, self-titled EP out through New Morality Zine (Make Do and Mend, Chico). Across three tracks, the band balances between frantic and melodic, taking influence from the likes of Thursday, Armor For Sleep, and Planes Mistaken for Stars. Montclair latch onto a passionate blend of screamed and clean-sung vocals gliding across shifty chords, pulsating rhythms, and instinctive nostalgia. The EP opens with “Solace in the Moment After,” driven by a hooky chorus and spacey guitars that meet furious guest vocals from Holder’s Brie Percy. “Eyesight” hits with a punchier sound, while closer “Corresponding Numbers” ends the EP with captivating layers that hit like a pressure release, sending off with the lyrics “I’m almost there / Every second / Closer to the edge.”

On the messaging of the EP, the band shares:
“All three songs deal with identity and moving through the world with anxiety, but gaining the strength, whether from inside you or from other people, to break away from the mental restraint and rumination. Each song was written to be introspective and genuine in meaning, hoping it connects with whoever listens.”
