Today, Miss May I return with new single ‘Highbrow Thieves’, the latest track to be taken from their forthcoming album No Place For Me, due for release on October 2nd via Solid State Records.

Built around crushing riffs, towering grooves and one of the album’s most immediate choruses, ‘Highbrow Thieves’ explores the feeling of giving everything you have to a system that continually demands more, where time itself becomes life’s most valuable currency.

“‘Highbrow Thieves’ is written from the perspective of someone worked to the bone, taking orders from people with no remorse for who they’re giving them to. The ‘thieves’ here aren’t after riches or objects, what they’re really stealing is something far more valuable: Time,” says Benton.

No Place For Me marks the band’s eighth studio album and their debut for Solid State Records. Written over two years with longtime collaborator Nick Sampson, the record sees Miss May I at their most personal yet, confronting themes of identity, anxiety, self-doubt and resilience through some of the heaviest and most emotionally honest songs of their career.

Speaking about the album, Benton says: “No Place For Me is everything I’ve felt for a long time but never had the words for. Writing it taught me who I actually am even when that hurt to look at. It’s a full journey: Where it started, what I discovered, and where I am today.”

For nearly two decades, Miss May I have channelled life’s darkest moments into some of modern metalcore’s most enduring songs. Since emerging in 2007, the Ohio quartet have built a global following through relentless touring, eight studio albums and a catalogue that has amassed hundreds of millions of streams, while sharing stages with the likes of Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive and Motionless In White.

Their eighth album, No Place For Me, sees the band at their most personal yet. Written with longtime producer Nick Sampson, the record explores identity, anxiety, self-doubt and the search for belonging, balancing crushing riffs and hardcore energy with some of the most emotionally honest songwriting of their career.

“We stopped and asked ourselves, ‘What are we actually trying to say as artists?’” reflects vocalist Levi Benton. “The goal is for the music to be therapeutic. It’s okay to have a breakdown. You aren’t alone. You don’t have to hold it all in. I hope our latest album can meet you where you are.”
