Acclaimed Rock trio Against the Current are entering the next chapter of their story with the release of “Protégé”, the latest single from their long-awaited 3rd studio album, Till Death & Back, which is set for release on 30th October 2026 . Alongside the new track, the band launches their vinyl and CD pre-order this Friday, giving fans their most substantial look yet at the world they have been building throughout this new era. The band are on the current cover of Kerrang! magazine. Executive produced by Against The Current’s own Will Ferri, ‘Till Death & Back’ brings the band together with producers Erik Ron (Panic! at the Disco, Godsmack), Josh Gilbert (Spiritbox), Morwell and Josh Saldata for their most cohesive and uncompromising record yet. Where previously released singles have explored love, fate, survival, and devotion, “Protégé” introduces another dimension to the album: the complicated ways people influence, shape, challenge, and ultimately define one another. The song examines turning a seemingly familiar relationship dynamic into something more psychologically charged. “Protégé” follows the previously released singles, “Always You & I” and “Dead Man Walking”, each offering a different entry point into the album’s larger narrative. “Always You & I” explored a love that transcends time and circumstance, while “Dead Man Walking” confronted survival and the feeling of becoming unfamiliar to yourself. “Protégé” expands that conversation into the relationships, influences, and power dynamics that can shape a person’s identity. Frontwoman Chrissy Costanza elaborated that, “fate is the thread running through every song on this album, the belief that what’s meant for you is bound to you across time. The cost is the fire, the fight, the version of yourself you don’t get back. Till Death & Back is the promise that no matter how far you go, the thread never breaks, not even in death.” Since emerging onto the alternative scene, Against the Current have built their career around refusing to stay in one place. From their early pop-punk roots to their increasingly expansive alternative sound, the band have continually evolved without losing the emotional connection that made their music resonate with fans around the world.
