Wealthy Women share “Atheist Wife” single and music video

San Francisco three-piece Wealthy Women today share “Atheist Wife,” the latest single from their debut album Children, due 7th August and produced by Scott Evans (Neurosis, SUMAC, Autopsy).
Written as a reaction to JD Vance’s 2021 “childless cat ladies” remarks, “Atheist Wife” wears the mask of a love song to draw a line between two very different women: the Vice President’s public target and vocalist and songwriter Peter Sisk’s own wife.
Of the single, the band say: “This song was inspired by two remarkable people; my wife and JD Vance. It’s a reaction to the infamous ‘childless cat ladies’ attack by the Vice President in a 2021 interview on Fox News. I tried to capture the mix of anger and bemusement I felt by comparing the two figures.”
“One represents a reactionary Christian sect intent on turning the clock back on women’s rights, presides over an administration that peddles cruelty as spectacle and enables the murder of women and children around the globe to further their aims.”
“The other is a delightful lady who does her best to be kind to people. It is true that she owns cats, though.”

“Atheist Wife” arrives in the context of an album shaped by the political weight of 2025. Written largely in the wake of Trump’s re-election and recorded at Antisleep Audio in Oakland, Children examines the crises that define this political moment: the online radicalisation of young men, the human cost of cruel immigration policy, and the casual inhumanity of modern war. Two members of the band are US immigrants – Don Doblados, the Bay Area-born son of Filipino immigrants, and Peter Sisk, the band’s chief songwriter, who moved from Ireland to the US in 2017 and has watched the country change around him ever since. That outsider vantage point runs through everything on the record.
The eight tracks that make up Children move between outrage and grief, with satire and dark observational humour used to vary the emotional register. “37 Days” tells the story of Asaad al-Nasasra, a Palestinian Red Crescent paramedic detained by Israeli forces after an attack that killed eight of his colleagues. “Take It Back” follows a woman who supported harsh immigration policies until she finds herself caught in the machinery of immigration enforcement. “Worst Date” stares down the misogyny peddled by the Manosphere. “Shit Breaks” is a quiet, devastating account of spousal abuse. “Siege,” written in late 2024, describes Trump’s second term with a prescience that still stings. The title track closes the album in mourning for the children of Gaza and Ukraine. “Men of the West” stands apart as the lyrical outlier, drawing its horror not from the present but from the deep past.

Wealthy Women are not a very Bay Area band, despite calling San Francisco home. The trio – Don Doblados (bass), Andrew Harms (drums), and Peter Sisk (guitar/vocals), carry with them a particular outsider’s perspective. Don is the Bay Area-born son of Filipino immigrants. Andrew arrived from Kansas. Peter, the band’s chief songwriter, is Irish and only moved to the US in 2017, arriving during the earliest months of the first Trump administration. He has watched the country change around him ever since.
That outsider vantage point is the engine of Children. Written largely in the wake of Trump’s re-election in 2024 and shaped by the rising tide of despair throughout 2025, the album confronts the crises that define this political moment: toxic masculinity and the online radicalisation of young men, the human cost of cruel immigration policy, and the casual inhumanity of modern war. As the weight of those subjects grows heavier, the band’s tunings drop lower to match.
Speaking on their long awaited debut album announcement the band say: “We’ve been working towards this for quite a while; the album was written and recorded during 2025 and the themes of that year definitely form a huge part of it. Since then the band has been focused on touring and we’ve been really enthused by the reaction to the songs live. We’re excited to share them with a wider audience. The themes of the album feel just as present in 2026 as they did last year, dealing as it does with war, the death of innocents and the assault on democracy.”
