(2018), Kid, Feral have quietly built a reputation as one of the most honest and unpredictable voices in the screamo underground. With 2019, they deliver an album that took nearly seven years to complete, shaped by personal hardship, failed relationships, injury, and creative obsession. Written largely in their youth but released, as the band puts it, at the dawn of their middle age, 2019 captures a long and turbulent creative process. Drums were recorded as far back as October 2019, while the rest of the album was painstakingly written, rewritten, and reworked over the years, with countless revisions across every instrument. Recorded entirely by the band in their rehearsal space and fully self-produced, 2019 embraces a deliberately rough, lo-fi aesthetic. Beneath that surface, however, lies years of detailed work, giving the album depth, character, and a chaotic, human energy. The warm mastering allows the record to breathe, avoiding the harshness often associated with the genre and inviting listeners to fully immerse themselves in its intensity.
