“The sound of this record is almost perfectly described by that mixture of words and images – a visceral, droning response to the infinite, groaning wonders of nature.”
The Wire

“…a beguiling work that distills the overwhelming impact of nature on the human psyche into 80 minutes of utterly transcendent avant metal.”
Album of the Week | The Quietus

“Few bands are as dedicated to the bracing – yet subtle and beautiful – extremities of volume, texture and tone as sunn O))).”
Crack

“…a hyperdistilled version of its core aesthetic, in which snarling distortion and glinting feedback ooze from the speakers like the dense fog that fills the air at the band’s shows.”
New York Times

“…a characteristically loud yet dynamic tribute to the beauty and strength of our environment.”
PASTE

“For its abundance of sonic richness and ability to inspire meditative bliss, sunn O))) is such a gift. For those who seek wonder, who seek mysteries riddled in sound, sunn O))) welcomes you.” Treble

“sunn O))) are not only going back to basics but embracing the natural world with something approaching a spiritual connection”
Music OMH

“sunn O))) have crafted some of their most sensorily dizzying music to date. But these gradually mutating drones are as glorious as they are overpowering.”
Punktastic

“Heavy, scary, brutal and unrelenting”
Out Of Rage

“A dying bulb in a dankly lit industrial space, its melancholic, dull twinkle gives you some time to reflect before the crushing inevitability of pure darkness descends, killing the light completely. Then they leave us prone and blissfully concussed. Speechless in the wake of the magnitude of what we’ve just witnessed.”
Devolution

SUNN O)))’s critically acclaimed eponymous new album is out today worldwide from Sub Pop. The six-track, 80-minute long-player, which features the singles “Glory Black,” “Butch’s Guns,” and “Does Anyone Hear Like Venom?,” was co-produced & mixed by the band and Brad Wood (Hum, Tar, Sunny Day Real Estate, Liz Phair), and recorded at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, Washington, January 2025.

SUNN O))) is now available on CD/2xLP/Digitally from Sub Pop. 2xLP purchases in North America through megamart.subpop.com and in the UK/EU from Mega Mart Europe will receive the limited Loser Edition on opaque blue (North America) and oxblood (UK/EU) colored vinyl. The limited Loser Editions will also be available at your local record store (All vinyl colors and band merch available while supplies last!)

Framing the album visually are two paintings by the late American artist Mark Rothko – one on the front cover and one on the back cover, with the art reversed for UK & European pressings. The CD and LP package also includes expansive liner notes by author Robert Macfarlane, whose 2025 novel Is a River Alive? is among the many sources of inspiration for the album. And, illustrations by French artist Elodie Lesourd are featured on the inner LP sleeves and accompanying album merch.
