Honey I’m Home are today sharing new single ‘Hyperspace Mountain’, the latest music to come from the inventive Dutch quintet. It arrives on the heels of last month’s single ‘Pretty’ which saw the band win their first UK national radio plays across BBC 6 Music. With ‘Hyperspace Mountain’, Honey I’m Home show exactly where they stand right now: heavier, more energetic, and more confident than ever.
Honey I’m Home – completed by Thom Schotanus, Sofie Ooteman, Jasper Meurs, Hugo de Groot and Evelien Keesmaat – release ‘Hyperspace Mountain’ having recently hit stages at Reeperbahn and Left of the Dial festivals, completed a full European tour in support of Third Man Records’ own Hotline TNT, as well making their US debuts at Austin’s SXSW and NYC’s New Colossus Festival. Packed rooms and mosh pits made ‘Hyperspace Mountain’ an immediate live favourite.
The trip also brought them closer to artists from the international shoegaze and indie scene who have long inspired them. They stayed with Will Anderson of Hotline TNT and spent time with Winter while in New York.
Later this month the band hits with Swedish rockers Girl Scout. UK dates aren’t far away from being announced.
Hyperspace Mountain’s parading as a broad-shouldered and dense shoegaze song is almost the inverse of its subject matter. The band explores the notion of minimizing oneself, the bad habit of people pleasing, and feeling as though you need to put yourself in the back seat in your own life.
Vocalist and guitarist Thom Schotanus explains:
“Hyperspace Mountain” is about sidelining yourself — and the frustration that comes with it, and the desire for that to change. The track reflects how we see the new wave of shoegaze evolving: an intense guitar-driven track that leans heavily on electronic sounds.
