The Florence, SC-based multi-instrumentalist Alex Melton, previously known for his renditions of Punk Songs as country-influenced songs, which led him to be a multi-million streaming artist, has today, released his debut album The Process via Pure Noise Records. Alongside the album comes single Moment, which Alex tells us, “I’ve always admired the earnestness of a good love song. Heart on your sleeve, just laying everything out there, at the same time vulnerable and empowering. I decided to create my own version of a sweet song about a small moment between two people in love. No grand gestures, just a calm confidence and that shared feeling of never wanting the night to be over.” MOMENT- WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW 
The Process is a collection of original songs and is produced by label mate, Alan Day of Four Year Strong who also co-wrote on the album. The record as a whole explores Alex Melton questioning his own life story, what is meaningful and moving to him. “I’ve spent a lot of my life working towards goals. That’s how things are designed for us: get diploma, get degree, get job, get house, retire, end of level. So much time spent working toward the prize. Putting so much importance on the ringing of the bell, being able to say DONE. I DID IT. But that’s so fleeting, that feeling of accomplishment. We actually spend far more time in the middle of it all, planning, working, thinking, thinking, thinking, anticipating. What if the whole point of it was to enjoy the middle portion? To be present, and find joy in the small moments along the way? Would that make things better, would I be happier? Is it even possible to conceptualise moments as they happen? “The Process” is my attempt at answering these questions, to focus on the things that bring me joy while acknowledging the things that keep me from fully embracing that joy. Frustration, anxiety, worry, the unjust nature of the world. It all feels so unfair. But still we exist, we attempt to thrive, and we love. That process, that feeling of striving for better, is exactly where we can find the meaning that we were brought here to find. It’s not easy, and it’s not always fun, but it can be filled with moments that stay with you forever.
