“One of modern country music’s truly great songwriters” (HollerMackenzie Carpenter releases her highly anticipated new track “Drunk Cigs”out now via Big Machine Records. Co-written by Carpenter with Nicolle Galyon (Lady A, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini) and Jamie Moore (Morgan Wallen, FGL), the track features a smoldering vocal performance wrapped in sleek production, simmering in the denial that comes after a breakup.

Flourishing from the release of her 2025 debut album Hey Country Queen featuring “the year’s most irresistible duet” (Entertainment Focus“I Wish You Would ft. Midland”, “Drunk Cigs” marks the start of a brand-new era for Mackenzie.

“I wrote this one with a little bit of humor and a lot of honesty – unfortunately some of the things we say don’t count are the things that count the most – it’s symbolic of the nights and the thoughts you brush off but know you’re gonna feel the next morning.” shares Mackenzie.

Hailing from the small town of Hull, Georgia, Mackenzie began honing her craft by writing alongside her brother and singing in church. She embodies both Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Saturday Night, able to write the kind of high energy, going out anthems that soundtrack last call and neon lights while also grounding it all in Sunday Morning honesty. Pairing a classic country voice with honest, heartfelt storytelling, she captures those fleeting nights when time slips away and even the worst habits start to feel a little too easy to justify.

The release of “Drunk Cigs” comes off the back of a viral moment with Girls In Low Places where Mackenzie secretly teased the track, sparking millions of views across socials and making sure the iconic catchphrase is stuck in everyone’s head.

Solidifying her reputation as the “country singer-songwriter to watch” (The Tennessean) with previous standout cuts on Megan Moroney’s “I’m Not Pretty,” “Indifferent,” and “28th of June,” Mackenzie recently expanded this co-writing streak with stand-out tracks “I Only Miss You ft. Ed Sheeran” and “Bells & Whistles ft. Kacey Musgraves”. Heading over to the UK for C2C Festival next month and going out on tour this year with country superstar Riley Green, “Drunk Cigs” kicks off the beginning of a momentous year for Mackenzie.
