First New Music Since 2023’s Some Of It Was True

Philadelphia punk institution The Menzingers are sharing their new single “Nobody’s Heroes” today, their first new music since 2023’s Some Of It Was True. Recorded with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip at his Memory Music Studios in South Philly, the single sharpens the band’s signature blend of working-class grit and indie punk swagger, adding new depth to their Heartland-rock sound.

The Menzingers also debut the accompanying visual to “Nobody’s Heroes”, a DIY in-studio performance video they filmed and directed themselves. The clip showcases the band in their element, panning between intimate shots of its members jamming and hanging out in their cozy Philadelphia studio. Watch and listen below:

We started writing Nobody’s Heroes for Tom [May], who was going through a divorce at the time,” vocalist/guitarist Greg Barnett says. “As the song developed it became something even bigger. ‘Nobody’s Heroes’ is the story of The Menzingers. How we’re at our best when we’re ourselves.”

The Menzingers, hailed by Stereogum as “modern masters of the tunefully muscular punk rock singalong“, have built a multi-decade reputation as road-tested veterans with an unbeatable catalog. After emerging in the late 2000s and joining Epitaph, they hit their stride with 2012’s On the Impossible Past, earning critics’ accolades and a spot on several year-end lists. Subsequent albums – 2017’s After the Party, 2019’s Hello Exile, and 2023’s Some of It Was True – saw the band refine their sound, embracing introspection without sacrificing power. Some Of It Was True, a gritty, roots-tinted collection, showcased the band’s growth, with BrooklynVegan noting it sounded “a little more ragged and a little more Americana, but still with that trademark Menzingers twist.”
